Bar to Stem Clamp Shims

These work just as well as the more expensive version. I was able to use my older bars on the oversized stems, and nothing has slipped yet. It's a bit of an ordeal to hold everything straight during installation, but it does what it's supposed to do, so no complaints.

bar to stem shims

these work great. a solid choice for when you are mixing and matching stems and bars. Used on my old commuter, never once had the bars slip. would buy again in a heartbeat. far far far superior to cut up tin cans...

Work suprisingly well

I installed these shims on my CX bike, so I could try different stems from my road bike inventory. I had reservations, but these shims hold the bar very well, and 'cross bikes focus a lot of force in this area. I would have complete confidence using it on a road bike as well.

Pros: Holds the bar in its position

Cons: Can be a bit of a pain to install

Sigh... I'm slowly giving up the battle of sticking with 25.4 bars and stems. This lets me buy new (ugly/fat) stems that work with my old bars.

This is a perfect solution to using your old 25.4 bars with today's standard 31.8 stems!

Cons: Wish they came in black too.

These will enable you to put 25.4 bars in a 26.0 stem. It was a tight fit, and took a little bit of time to get it in the stem exactly, but it was secure with no slipping whatsoever.

26 to 31

i had mistakenly bought a size 26 bar but i cant bear to get rid of it so i found this shim for a fraction of the price of a new bar and now i can run my favorite old bar on my new bike. thank you!

was a temporary fix for me until I could get the right size stem, worked well enough that I would forget I was using a shim. No movement, stayed in place, exactly what you're hoping it does

I use a 26.0mm to 31.8mm shim with some bullhorns on my fixed gear. Lots of hills where I live so I do quite a bit of out-of-the-saddle climbing. I've put a lot of force on the bars and haven't had any slipping.

Pros: holds well

Cons: would be nice in black

I'm constantly changing the setup on my commuter bike just to keep things fresh. I bought these shims to use a 25.4mm bar in a 31.8mm stem. Easier and cheaper than buying a new stem. They work fine at that task, no slipping at all. I would not, however, use this on a mountain bike.

Good solution

Much better solution that replacing stems. These give you the flexibility to switch bars without having to find a new stem.

i needed these to use a 26 nitto bar with a 31.8 clamp. put one in against the stem and the other against the faceplate. they stay in place, and seem to be well made. good cheap solution.

When you need them you need them

I used these shims to help me adapt some larger clamps to the small 22mm bars on the Nitto Lamp Holder 1 and 2.

The 22.2 to 25.4 shims are serrated unlike the photo.

Great shim from an NJS approved manufacturer

Perfect solution for a potential major issue. I got these to truly secure my 25.4 Nitto track drop bars to my 26.0 bar clamp stem. Bars feel welded to the stem now and that inspires confidence in sprinting and climbing.

Pros: Simple and effective.

Cons: Somewhat pricey

I've used several sets f these over the years. It's a good idea to have a set in your tool box. I used them with a Moots Ti bar as those are only 22.2, so i was able to use a Normal 25.4 stem. They worked great, they do Creak a little now and then, but i have had that experience with all handlebar shims. I find that cleaning, light lubing and a re-torque to Stem specs usually eliminates any noises.
