Great chain Strong and looks good. Recommended for singlespeeding! Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: March 29, 2013 Reviewed by: gb Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
This is a burly single speed chain. I found it heavy and loud. As long as you have the proper setup this chain will be fine. Pros: heavy duty Cons: heavy Would Buy Again: No Would Recommend: No Reviewed on: October 09, 2012 Reviewed by: es, Oregon Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Durable, good quick link I used to ride almost exclusively whipperman chains, now I ride almost exclusively sram, why? Price. It's cool, it's shiny, it's durable, it's got a quick link, but in california I don't see any super-advantage for the price over sram. Maybe if you were coastal, but not in the sierras. Pros: Bling factor and durable Cons: Price Would Buy Again: No Would Recommend: No Reviewed on: August 05, 2012 Reviewed by: Owen R., California Was this review Helpful? Had no major issues but it does seem to rust on me more than previous kmc chain. Pros: Strong and smooth. Cons: Rust. Reviewed on: February 17, 2012 Reviewed by: Paul, Oregon Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Wippermann chain Looks nice and shinny, Durable. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: October 27, 2011 Reviewed by: Cory P., California Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Quality I took the advice of the reviews found here. All chains stretch - it's part of the package. This one, though, so far seems to be extremely well made. There are plenty of lighter chains on the market - but this one does the job Pros: Quality, price. Cons: nothing. i had a stock kmc chain before i got this one. the difference is quite apparent. the 1/8th thickness lends some confidence when you're mashing and the quick link removal bit is solid. i initially thought it would weaken the chain, but from pounding up and down the alleys for the last few days, it's holding up just fine. Pros: quality construction. german. Cons: none. just get it if you need a single speed/fixed chain Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: September 10, 2011 Reviewed by: Brent M., Oregon Was this review Helpful? I didn't get to use this chain for long as I ended up needing a half-link chain to get my tire clearance dialed in, but it seems high quality, ran quiet while I did use it, and is definitely going to be put on another singlespeed at some point! Amazing chain I absolutely love Wippermann chains. Have one of these on my fixed gear and it is able to withstand the tough work required of a fixie. High quality chain even at a low price range. I trust Wippermann as a top chain maker. Pros: High quality, super sturdy, master link Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: July 28, 2011 Reviewed by: Daniel A., California Was this review Helpful? Very tough, looks nice, doesn't rust, and "stretches" evenly over time. For the price, you are not going to find a better chain.
I buy a new one once a year for my bad weather commuter that is ridden heavily loaded every single day in the rain and Portland road grime. I wipe the chain off once a week and add a single drop of Phil's to each link. No problems. I've been using this on my bike for about a year after switching from a KMC Z chain. This chain definitely looks way nicer, stays lubed better, and feels sturdier. It might be a bit more pricey than a Z chain, but you can tell where your money is going. Pros: Sturdy, looks good, stays lubed well Cons: Connex link can be annoying Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: March 15, 2011 Reviewed by: Michael G., Virginia Was this review Helpful? This chain is downright amazing for the price & is one of the original reasons I keep coming back to Wippermann over other chain makers. For the price it has given me unrivaled durability. I change over my drivetrain for the winter to the old & well worn one that was first on my commuter. That drivetrain is over has seen five winters & one summer of use & includes this chain. It has not & I cannot foresee it failing anytime soon. I think Wippermann's master links are the best & the one accompanying this chain is no exception. Pros: Cost
Durability, oh & durability

I'm using this on an Alfine drivetrain and, so far, it seems to be smooth and quiet. Excellent value. Nickel plate puts some shine in the drivetrain. Rock solid chain I've been used to 8/9 speed chains, and I'm always breaking them, not sure if it's poor maintenance or riding big gears. I just converted one of MTBs to a single speed and ordered this chain. Wow, what a difference from the 8/9 speed chains, this thing is heavy duty, I don't see me breaking this one. I chose this chain because of price and the Connex link, no need to push pins out just to remove the chain and thereby weakening it. The Connex link is good, but not as easy to take out as the SRAM Powerlink Connector. Pros: Solid build quality, pretty to look at, ConneX link. Cons: Connex link not as good as SRAM Powerlink Connectors I usually use. cheap, extra strong, rust resistant single speed chain I've had this on my fixie for nearly two years now, and it still works like a champ. I clean it every once in a while, but not often. The chain is super stiff, resists wear, does not rust, and is very quiet for a 1/8" chain Pros: Doesn't rust, very quiet, cheap, stiff Cons: none Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: November 16, 2010 Reviewed by: Adrian F., Philadelphia Was this review Helpful? Probably my favorite chain for fixed/SS use. Has a good track record - pun may or may not be intended. It's got all five S's covered: simple strong, smooth, silent and... sassy? Supafly? Forgot what the fifth one was. Silver? Ahhh, never mind. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: October 22, 2010 Reviewed by: Jonathan J., Oregon Was this review Helpful? Wipperman chain The best chain ever for single speed use and abuse. I ride my single speed 4 times a week not much cleaning at all. This chain has held up amazingly. No rust no binding wearing like iron but nice looking nickel. Pros: Inexpensive, strong no wear noticed after years of use. Easy to install. Cons: None noted. Maybe a little heavy.
