Cheap, but not as bad as rep would have you believe

I've had a 17T for years, it's been on a few bike and still works as well as when first installed. I think the bad rep comes mostly from BMX usage, no freewheel likes dirt and these are no different, plus they where never really designed for the abuse.
Cleaning the dirt out with WD-40 or the like also washed out the grease, failure will soon follow.
Dicta's have been used for decades all over the world, wipe it off before dirt builds up enough to get inside or smear some grease around to gap to keep it out, try not to abuse it (no racing) and a good one will last long enough to own you nothing when it's time to replace it.
Much better than a Pheasant freewheel, the come pre-broken.

Pros: Cheap, durable (enough), good selections of ratios, 4 prong body (no fancy or unique tools required.

Cons: You get what you pay for, inconsistent built quality, not for every application.

It worked

I had one of these come with my bike, at least 2k miles on one, no problems.
It does feel a little cheap, and louder than my other freewheels.
Only reason I replaced is because it was a 17T and bought a 18T.

Pros: Inexpensive

Cons: Made in Taiwan, slightly louder than I'd like.
