Long time fan
Have been using Egg Beaters for years and years. They work the same overtime. Clip in, they don't let go. Cleats are meant to wear out instead of the pedal. $20 for cleats every year or so is a better deal then replacing worn out SPD's. I also use the metal backing plates. Keeps the pedal from digging in to your shoe. If you feel your foot rattling around, you need backing plates.
