Solid go-to chain
Not too much to say about this chain other than it works when needed and without issue. While a few grams heavier than more expensive chains, it works 100% as well.Solid chain, but prone to corrosion
I bought this chain to use with a single-speed setup, and for that purpose it's worked well--smooth, quiet, and durable. However, after only 4-6 weeks of use the side plates have developed substantial corrosion, which appears to be moving to the inner plates and rollers as well. I can only guess that this is a byproduct of simply cleaning the chain, because I have never ridden in the rain and the bike is stored in an area of controlled humidity. I don't know if this is something common to all SRAM chains, but I would at least not buy this particular chain again. No Drama
This one has become my standard 9sp chain. A few dollars more than the PC951 but seems less prone to rust after wet rides. You can go to the all-silver PC991 for even more $, but I see the silver-on-gray as a cleaning indicator. If the outer and inner links look the same, it's time to clean! :) SRAM chains have never let me down, and I've been using them for a loooong time -- since the 5-speed Sedis days.
