Nice Surprise
I bought this shifter to update an old Chicago built Schwinn. This bike had the original positron indexed system, and even though I cleaned and adjusted everything, and installed a new cable, I never was satisfied with the results. Switching to this shifter, a standard 6 speed freewheel and an inexpensive derailleur made a world of difference. Crisp clean shifts every time. The only reason I only gave it 4 stars is because I've only had it in service for a few days now. If it stands up to use like I expect it will, I'd make it a 5.
