My poor butt
My first impressions, were Wow this thing is so well made and Ouch, my poor butt.
The leather was so stiff that it looked more like wood than leather. The honey color is beautiful, glad I got it and not the black one. It was funny, when I removed my Fizik Aliante, that I had borrowed from my road bike to use on Surly LHT, holding both, the B17 was so heavy that it made me laugh. The first ride was very painful, mind you I suffer from saddle sores, ever since I moved to hot humid Miami. I'm a bit concerned that maybe I should have ordered the narrow B17, oh well, time will tell. I have a total of five rides totaling 150 miles on the B17. My last ride seemed a little better. I'm hoping break in will occur by 500 miles or less. I just conditioned the leather with Brooks product, really nice stuff, no funky odor.
I will give it five stars for now for craftsmanship, and post a second review when I hit 500 miles, or sooner I hope. Pros:
Outstanding craftsmanship, pictures on web don't do justice. Cool retro looking and English heritage. Check out video on Brooks web, on how they are made, so cool. Cons:
Ugly black rails, should be chrome, like Imperial models, to match with chrome rivets. Not good in the rain, will be hard keeping it dry in South Florida. No points deducted, I was well aware.
Would Buy Again:
