OK, but wearing out after 2000 miles

I like this pedal because it was inexpensive and lightweight with a grippy and decent-sized platform for riding in street shoes year round. It also spins pretty freely. As a year-round commuter I also appreciate the built-in reflectors on both sides.

After I'd had these for about a month one of the plastic end caps sealing in the bearings fell off, then the other one did a few months later. Doesn't seem to have affected durability since I've ridden through most of a winter with the caps missing. Also after a few months I noticed a lot of play in the bearings, but they still spun freely. After about 2000 miles the spindle is starting to wear through the outer shroud (which is PLASTIC) in which it spins, and I expect it to fail within a couple hundred more miles.

I may replace these with the metal-bodied version (C098, I think), which costs $7 more. Hopefully those will be more durable, solving this pedal's primary problem.

Pros: Light weight, good bearings, reasonably grippy for wet conditions, decent platform for street shoes, GREAT price

Cons: Iffy weather protection after you lose the end caps, plastic body wore out after a year's hard use. I would recommend upgrading to the C098, apparently the same pedal with a metal body.
