BIG APPLE is an intelligent and economical concept for comfortable cycling. The air in the tire acts as a natural suspension. The Big Apple balloon tire was developed specifically to utilise this effect. Inflated to 30 p.s.i. (2 bar) it rolls easily and absorbs impacts, acting like a full suspension bike. Besides which tire suspension is far less harsh than long spring travel.. Using simple technology, cycling can remain low-maintenance and easy.

Race Guard - This belt was developed specially with racing in mind. A synthesis of special india rubber and several layers of nylon fabric offers very effective protection against penetration punctures. There is only a minimal increase in weight and rolling resistance of these tires.

I always find my way back to the Big Apple. This really has to be the all time greatest commuter tire. The 2.35 width is heavy and noticeable on climbs (at least while your sissy legs grow some muscles). But they just keep rolling. Potholes? No problem. Curb hop? Any time. Squirrels trying to cross the road in front of you? I didn't feel anything.

Pros: After five years and hundreds, if not thousands, of miles, only a handful of punctures and still some tread left. Value per dollar is higher than any other tire I've tried.

Cons: Sidewall is pretty thin so be careful with that.

Schwalbe Big Apple Performance 26" Tire

Perfect commuting or city tire! I've been running these for years. I've gotten very few flats and tons of miles.

Pros: Schwalbe quality. Reflective sidewall. Fast rolling. Puncture protection. Durable.

Cons: None, as long as you're using the tire for it's intended use.

Hey Big Apple

I ran close to 10,000 miles on my Catrike recumbant with three of these through thick and thin, over curbs and through city streets as well as century rides and never once got a flat. Running at only 30PSI or even lower they absorb every bump except for big potholes and they even handle them with ease. No rolling resistance or sidewall sway is noticeable. These things are amazing tires and I will be putting some new ones on my 26" cruiser. I highly recommend these tires for their wear length, flat freeness, good tread in wet and heat, both on road and trail.

Pros: Long life, hugely dependable, flat free....what else could you want

Cons: Only comes in wider sizes but then, it is not a road tire

The Big Apple

Just got back from first ride with the Schwalbe Big Apple 29 x 2.0. Wow! Was having a hard time finding a good street tire for my new 29er, but after some research decided to give these a try. Fast, comfortable and exactly what I was looking for.

Pros: Fast,look great. To soon to comment on much else as I have only been on one ride. Ohhh but what a ride:=)
