No school like old school
Replaced my XTR 980 shifters with these. The shifting is a bit quicker than the XTR were is some situations. They shift accurately. I'm not a huge fan of under bar shifters and have always preferred thumb shifters. Great option to have to get away from Shimano's "just our stuff" components too.Simple but effective
So I had the 9spd version of this shifter on a mtn touring setup with a Deore 9spd shadow rear derailleur, and it worked great. But I wanted a bigger range in the rear cassette and the easiest way to achieve it was by going up to 10spd. I couldn't find clarification anywhere whether this worked with Dyna-sys or not, so I picked these up and a 10spd cassette (sunrace 11-40) and went home to install. DID NOT WORK. Throw was all off when set to index. Worked OK in friction, but not what I was after. Came back to store and picked up 10spd Deore shadow derailleur (dyna-sys) Installed it and it worked PERFECTLY! The benefits of thumbies are well known and not necessary for me to elaborate on. I just wanted to insure those folks that might be looking that these do indeed work with Shimano Dyna-sys 10spd derailleurs!!
