Arc 27

Bought these for my first custom wheel build. Have 2 dents in the rear rim in less than a month. Definitely a soft rim. I don't run super low tire pressure either. I can still mount tubeless tires on them and it has a little hop in it but works fine. I'll keep using it but I think I'll get something stronger in the future as I don't have much confidence in these.

Pros: Light and wide

Cons: Weak. If you ride hard or are a bigger guy, I'm 210, I would consider other options.

Great Rim

At the end of the 2015 Summer riding season I noticed that my rear wheel's life had come to a drastic end. Cracked rim (Pacenti TL-28) and the spokes were starting to pull through. UC recommended I take a look at the ARC rims for a replacement. I was hoping on going with a carbon rim but $$$ or the lack of it gets in the way.

I had UC lace up an ARC 27 to my hub and for the price it falls right in line with the current high end Alm rims from Stans, DT, Spank etc. It turnd out to be a really good buy, the tire profile with a Maxxis DHF is spot on for my PNW riding. The weight was great, 1030 g (King HD hub, Sapim CX-Ray spokes and brass nipples).

Riding this new wheel felt good, the wider profile added (23mm internal to 27mm) noticeable traction without ballooning the tire way out. I plan to rebuild my front wheel this Spring with the ARC 30.

Pros: -Weight, width and overall construction are a plus on this rim for 2.3 tires. It gave me no issues with a tubeless tire

Cons: None yet
