Update to my previous review: the tire plug finally failed after 612 miles, having worked its way out of the, rather large, puncture. Tires themselves have >1412.5 miles and show little sign of wear. Tread thickness on the damaged tire is still about 4mm measured in the center. A new WTB Freedom Thickslick 29 X 2.1 Sport tire mounted easily on the Bontrager Mustang 29 rim, seated positively, and, after injecting 90 mL ( 3 oz., they are big tires after all) of Stan's sealant through the valve stem, followed by a thorough "Stan's shake," passed the soapy-water leak test with no issues.

Pros: Long wearing. Excellent traction on most surfaces when inflated properly for conditions. Easy to mount on suitable rims. Excellent tubeless capability.

Cons: When riding at speed on gravel they will surf and slide when cornering, but that is to be expected. Obviously, not a mud tire.

Installed a set of these on a hardtail mountain bike for use in a 200K brevet which included pavement, gravel, dirt and deep moon dust/rocks mix. To date (11/17/2016) they have 1,232.6 miles on them, all but the first 87 miles running tubeless. Inflated to 50 psi front and 55 psi rear, they roll well with little resistance on pavement yet can handle most singletrack trails. At that pressure they will bounce a bit off larger rocks and roots but it's a compromise I don't mind. I've had one through-puncture from hitting a piece of auto debris with a large screw protruding, which I patched, and later plugged with an automotive tire plug, and it's still running 432.6 miles later.

Pros: Tough, reliable, roll well on pavement with low perceived rolling resistance. Amazing traction on most surfaces.

Cons: Being smooth, will surf on loose gravel when cornering.
