Quick and easy way to run full brake housing to the rear brake.

I used these to run full brake housing to the rear brake on my cyclocross bike.

I had been experiencing lots of dirt and water intrusion and thus horrible drag and poor return response at the brake lever. Not to mention that after a season (2-3 months, 8-12 races, 9-10 hours) of CX racing I'd need to replace the rear brake cable. I initially tried GORE Ride-On cables and while those made the brake action super smooth, it was really expensive and labor intensive. With these cable grips, I was able to eliminate the opening in the top-tube mounted rear brake cable and run Jagwire's excellent housing the full length.

Since performing this "upgrade" I've been running the same rear brake cable and housing for the past two seasons/years with no apparent loss of responsiveness at the brake lever.



Pros: Not ugly. Small and visually unobtrusive. Easy to install. Don't need to drill out cable housing stops. Makes running brake housing all the way back to the rear brake easy.

Cons: Still looks like a bolt-on item.
