The newer ACS Main Drive is not the same freewheel as the older versions. The freewheel in the pic above is not what you get. The new Main Drives are made in China, as opposed to India or Taiwan.
The removal notches are now inset instead of raised and the bearing keeper is now right-hand threaded on the rear of the casing making it harder to service. Also, the casing is overall narrower than the old Main Drives.
The worst part about these new Main Drives, however, is that quality control is severely lacking. Mine rattled like a babies toy and I could hear the bearings falling in to place when I spun it. After opening it up and inspecting the internals, I noticed there was grease all over the pawls but none on the bearing races. Worst of all this freewheel was missing a total of five bearings. After cleaning off the old grease from the pawls, greasing the races and replacing the missing bearings, this freewheel seems to be as good as any Dicta or other generic freewheel, but I still dont trust it.Pros:
Retainer wire spring instead of the old folded spring design. Cons:
Made in China, Bad quality control, not easily serviceable like the old Main Drives, thinner casing, too quiet.Would Buy Again:
