Good, but occasionally inconsistent

This is my third KS post, which has worked well, but not without a few hiccups. My first two (950i 30.9, LEV 30.9) performed flawlessly, but this one (LEV 27.2) occasionally takes a couple attempts to get the post down. Or sometimes I need to pause after actuating it before applying weight to push it down, especially in colder weather. I've since sent it back to KS for service and am confident they'll sort it out. Otherwise, I like how the post operates, the Southpaw remote that's available as an option and how the cable doesn't move with the seat. Plus it's one of the only 27.2 droppers available, the other being the Thomson, I believe.

Pros: Sleek alternative to stealth posts for bikes without the internal routing option.

Cons: Inconsistent operation in this case, flawless operation with two previous KS posts.

I'm on the fence with this right now and not totally sold on it. I had the older i950 version and had some minor issues with. Getting their latest and greatest I thought it would be much improved. Fit and finish are great, everything fits perfect. The plastic cable liner they supply is a joke. Buy one of the most $$$ seat posts and get the cheapest plastic liner that holds its shape of being in a box and will not route clean and straighten out. I threw it away and bought some jagwire liner and used that ..... 1000x better. You shouldn't have to spend more $$$ after spending $400+ to make it right. When the seat is in a lowered position and you pick it up by the seat it pulls up on you. Normal? dunno. Also when riding when you're sitting on it, it will not lower until you take your weight off, then sit back on it. Normal? dunno

I was hoping to be 100% happy with it out of the box, I'm not yet. Would I buy it again? Probably, i don't think any of the dropper posts are perfect, maybe I'm wrong.

Good post, not buying all the hype though...

I've read in all the important bike mags that this is the post of the year! So I laid out my $400 hard earned bucks and put it to the test. That was a month or so ago and I'll report that it's good, but not super.

The good: smooth as butter on the way up and down. Locks into place really well when riding. Love the little control thingy and how it integrates with ODI grips. I've bounded the crap out of this post and it's still as functional as the first day. Oh, easy as pie to set up.

The bad: The most annoying thing is that when picking the bike up, the post rises up. Brings out the worst OCD in me. Second, I seem to have trouble synchronizing letting my weight off the saddle and pushing the control thingy down. There have been a couple of white knuckle moments trying to madly get the seat down before some impending rock face of doom (see Green Monster, Whistler).

This is my second dropper - first was a Specialized Command Center. This beats the drawers off of that but I'll probably wander over to the Reverb section on my next post. Just to see what else is out there....

Pros: Easy install, smooth movements.

Cons: Stop extending when I pick you up by hand!

Finally!

I've been waiting for this seatpost for some time because of the cable connector in the fixed part of the post (so cable doesn't go up and down with saddle).

Installation was pretty straightforward. The main reason I give it 4 and not 5 stars is because the lever is a little finicky to adjust: if you tighten the clamp on the handlebar at normal clamp torque, it creates a little drag in the lever which then doesn't spring back; I loosened the clamp (so I needed to torque extra the other one so Oury grip wouldn't slip) and it worked fine. If I didn't have Oury grips I might not have been able to get lever to stay put on handlebar and spring back.

Post goes up and down very nicely and feels very tight (unlike my old Joplin)

Pros: Integrated Oury grip lever clamp;
cable insertion in fixed part of seatpost;
up and down action of post;
feels tight and solid

Cons: tricky to clamp lever to handlebar to allow it to spring back properly
