I'm running these on my touring bike and I'm really happy with them. The right has really clearly-defined detents compared to other barends, so you get nice crisp shifts. With other shifters, I've seen ghost shifts because the shifter was happy to sit a little bit outside the index point. I guess that makes it more critical to keep the rear derailer dialed in real good, but I'm fastidious about that anyway.
I don't know why it says "only compatible with Dura-Ace 7900 front derailleur." I have these paired with an XT FD and it's fine. And I mean, the front shifter is friction; if it's not pulling the right amount of cable you just move the lever some more. I'd guess Shimano just put notes on all their 7900 shifters when they changed the cable-pull.Pros:
crisp clean shifts
may be finicky
