E-Thirteen LG1+ Chain Guide

I have this chainguide on 2 bikes. I've been a downhiller for years and years, this is best chainguide out there. It was also the easiest to install and set-up. The guide is really quiet and very light. It opens up like a butter fly, so you can remove the cranks or chainring without removing the chainguide, brilliant!! In my opinion, this is the only chainguide for a downhiller or aggressive trail rider.

Pros: E-13! Light. Works. Easy to install.

Cons: I wish they'd bring back all the colorways.

Smooth, easy to install and adjust

I've used MRP and e.13.

This is very comparable to the MRP. It's very quiet and installs nice and secure. I like that the taco bash can be independently adjusted for different frame types. This would have been great for my old Demo 9.

I bought this guide to use for my enduro race bike for a few very specific reasons.


1. 2x10 drivetrains suck - I kept dropping chains even with an MRP 2X guide in a large variety of riding conditions. (Not to mention parts of that guide kept breaking when chains dropped: mainly the lower guide piece...I also had 2 bearing seizures in 3 months...garbage)
2. The ability to remove the ENTIRE bottom roller/bash and not have other metal mounting tabs hanging off for the chain to bang against.


I bought a 34 tooth narrow-wide chainring to use, but wasn't sure it would provide enough chain retention with a top-only guide. I wanted the ability to try it, but also go back to a full guide setup if it didn't work. I ran the full guide for a full week, including a race with no issues. Then I removed the lower bash assembly and still haven't dropped a chain after a full 6 months of riding (with an additional 3 races). This significantly reduced the drag while pedaling.

If I were to do this again with a narrow-wide ring, I would be torn to get this or a top-only version. It's nice to have the bash/lower roller for park days, but I'm still not sure it is necessary.

Pros: Adjustability to fit a variety of frames with lower bash mounting points.
Ability to run guide with ENTIRE bash/lower roller assy removed.
No rubbing at all - no matter what gear my cassette is in.
e.13 makes the best guides on the market, I won't waste my time or money with anyone else yet (next on my list is Straitline).

Cons: The capacity printed on the guide is actually 33-36 teeth, not 32 teeth as advertised. I run a 34 tooth ring, so I was unable to test the fit of a 32.
Rather expensive.
