Two of my four saddles are this model. (Another is the standard B-17.) I simply can't imagine riding anything but Brooks (or similar) saddles. There really is nothing like broken-in tensioned leather for comfort, durability and gracefully-aged good looks.

I like a narrow yet flat saddle, so the B17 narrow is ideal for my road and fixed-gear bikes. The Professional is a bit wider (though a bit narrower than the standard B17) and has a more convex shape. Some people prefer that; others prefer a wider saddle. But, whatever your preference, Brooks probably has a saddle that will work for you.

And, let's face it, if you have a lugged steel or any sort of vintage bike, what else would you put on it?

P.S. I found that, like some other female riders, I actually prefer both the shape and the extra length of the men's Brooks saddles, as I tend to slide forward and back as I change hand positions throughout my ride.

Pros: Comfort. Good looks. Comfort. Ages well. Comfort. Never goes out of style. Comfort. Quality materials and workmanship. Comfort. Tradition. And, oh, did I say comfort?

Cons: Weight. But a heavy saddle isn't going to slow you down if you're comfortable on it. Also, rotating weight is far more important to your performance than the avoirdupois of this or any other saddle.
