Nice Touring Crank

I have been using this crank set on my hybrid errand bike for about five years. The finish is exceptional for this price point. The ramped alloy rings shift easily, and are durable, with no signs yet of excessive wear. Some may find the gearing a bit low for a road bike, but it serves well in a touring or mountain bike application.

Pros: Nice finish. Square taper crank allows wide selection of bottom brackets.

Cons: Attachment bolt behind the crank arm is difficult to access.

Best crank out there for kids!

The 152mm crank is about the only thing going when you are trying to build a junior bike, and they are by far the best quality for that application.

Pros: Classic looks, light enough, 110 bolt circle, right price.

Cons: Replacement/different size chain rings not available in ramped/pinned style, that I have been able to fine anyway.

All You Need

I am using one of these cranksets as a road triple, as my knees aren't getting any younger!

It's an excellent value. Although it may not have as nice a finish as Campy or some other brands, it looks surprisingly nice on my Mercian. It certainly looks nicer, at least to my eyes, than most of that's made today.

Even if you customize the gearing, the total cost will be less than if you'd bought most other cranks that are of similar quality to this Sugino.

Plus, this takes square-tapered axles and 110/74 chainrings, all of which are readily available

Pros: Versatility, excellent quality for the money.
