Long wearing cassette I stick to cheaper cassettes most of the time to avoid destroying nice parts in MN winters. This is a basic 9 speed cassette but still cleans up nice and has had no issues after thousands of miles. Pros: Long lasting, good gear range. Cons: Won't impress your friends. Not the lightest out there, but this is a very good cassette at a great price. Shifting is very good. Wear rate is also very good. Pros: Cheap, good shifting, good wear life. Cons: Heavy. This is a solid cassette, I got a about 5000 miles out of my first one and I wasn't even the first owner. The range of the 11-32 is money for your urban to rural commute, plenty low for the steepest hill climbs imaginable, and that super high 11 to fly down the other side. All with a good mix in the middle for those wide open flats we rarely see, but gobble up, here in the Pacific Northwest. Pros: Solid, lots of miles without breaking bank open too wide Cons: stock Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: August 04, 2012 Reviewed by: tyler b., Washington Was this review Helpful? A good utility cassette I bought this to replace a somewhat more blingy lighter (and more expensive, alas!) Shimano cassette, and was a little bit fretful because it weighed ~100gm more than what it replaced.
I should not have fretted, because it's been fine, even after several thousand miles of riding. Which is a wonderful thing, because it cost 1/4th as much as my previous cassette and means I can replace it without crying bitter tears as I dig for pennies behind the sofa cushions. used with deore mtb long r derailleur and a front 24-36-48 crank. it's a couple of bucks less than a sram, also a little lighter, and its shimano...never a problem shifting and i tend to make my components work hard...one of the standard tour, commute, urban gearing...hills no problemo...very easy to instal Pros: quality, price, weight, smooth shifter...no slip Cons: none so far Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: August 10, 2011 Reviewed by: Jeff P., Oregon Was this review Helpful? Locknut issues Love the gears but had some issues with the locknut (hopefully just a fluke). The machining was just enough off that I had to hammer the locknut socket in (bad fit) and then wrench it back out at the end. Otherwise, the cassette performs well now that it is on. Pros: Basic performance Cons: Locknut issues. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: June 12, 2011 Reviewed by: Griffin W., Minnesota Was this review Helpful? It might be heavy, but it works, and you get more than what you pay for. Upgrading to the HG61 gets you a more durable, but just-as-heavy unit. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: May 01, 2011 Reviewed by: DL, Wisconsin Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Nice reliable inexpensive cassette.
Does it's job well, if you're not worried about the weight. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: March 07, 2011 Reviewed by: Roland L., New York Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Decent lower-end cassette. Honestly, they don't seem to run quite as smoothly as their SRAM equivalents (like a 950). Shiny, though! Would Buy Again: No Would Recommend: No Reviewed on: January 22, 2011 Reviewed by: Jeff O., Oregon Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Bought this for a new build to get on the road fast at a reasonable price. Gear changes are smooth and based on my previous experience I expect this to last for quite some time. Pros: Shimano quality at a low price point Cons: On the heavy side Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: December 28, 2010 Reviewed by: Alex Was this review Helpful? A great stock replacement part. Pros: The same great Shimano shifting as their pricier cassettes
Hard (real) chrome plating Cons: Pretty heavy (but extremely bullet proof) Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: September 15, 2010 Reviewed by: James Z., Iowa Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
