I really like the red compound for my Avid BB and Elixr brakes, this is a signifcant upgrade over the excessively hard compound that comes from the factory. These keep the noise level down when riding in very cold winter rides, and keep the stopping power very consistent in any conditions from snow to hot and dusty to cold rainy days an the downhill course.

Pros: Works great in all conditions!

Cons: You will end up wearing through these significantly quicker than the harder factory compound.

Powerful

I've had them now for three monthe in the PNW winter. They work very well in the wet weather.

EBC Red pads work better than any other organic brake pad I've tried and I've been thru a few! A real upgrade for most brakes (was for my Hayes).

Pros: Quiet with excellent stopping power.

Cons: All organic pads wear fast and these are no exception. Not quite as much stopping power as sintered pads but close!

Used these on a Tektro Auriga Comp brake system. Much better upgrade over the stock pad. Never had an issue with fading when used hard. Initially made some noise but went away after the pads were broken in.

EBC makes the best replacement pads for bikes

I've used EBC pads for decades. Before mountain bikes had disc brakes I used them on my motocross bikes. They have great feel (better than stock pads). They last a long time, and they are reasonably priced. Given the choice of getting OEM or getting EBC, I'll always choose EBC pads.

Better than stock Avid bb7/Juicy

I have used the Green and Gold compounds. Gold has more bite than sintered Avids. Green is quiter and nearly the same bite as sintered. Definately more than the Avid organics. Some of the best BB7 style pads I've tried.

EBC pads, especially the reds are the best non-stock pads out there. They are better than many stock options. They grip amazingly, even in the wet, and don't really need to heat up, so braking after long descents of no braking is reliable. They do wear fast, but the gain in performance is worth it if you're asking me.

Red Compound Rocks

These red label brakes work very well. I am a big rider at 225 lbs and ride a rigid 29er. I need to have my brakes running at peak performance otherwise I get into trouble pushing too much speed through the rough stuff. I use downhill pads as an all around choice and accept that I'll have to change them out more often. They work good for the type of riding I do.

Pros: High friction compound, good modulation, gets the most out of an avid mechanical

Cons: lower life traded for higher friction

I used these to replace the stock brake pads on my Avid BB7's. No complaints!

I've been using the Gold pads in my BB7s for a bit over a month now and will easily recommend these. The performance difference wasn't immediately noticeable even after bedding in, but they perform much more consistently than the stock pads in a wide variety of conditions and brake temperatures. They also aren't making the occasional horrible noises that the stock pads made after some hills, stream crossings, etc

Wow!

My bike is an 08 Heckler and I've been using entry level Juicy 3's on them. Previously, my rides have been more XC, technical singletrack runs but lately, they have leaned towards more gravity oriented runs requiring constant proportional braking. I've used Alligator, Avid and Jagwire pads and they have all been marginally adequate (Avids being the best one). On my last downhill run on the "Cave" in Pacifica, CA, I had to finally hold my lever with two fingers after I pumped my forearms from braking and controlling the bars. I knew I had to get better pads (before upgrading brakes). A Google of race pads narrowed my search down to the EBC Reds and the Goodridge pads. The Reds won out because of price.

When I put it on, I immediately felt it bite despite the fact that it wasn't bedded yet. I rode up the same trail (Cave) with the pads still new and by mid-way, they were at full power. Absolutely phenomenal grabbing power! It felt like trying out disc brakes for the first time! Despite the improved grab, I was still able to modulate the brakes very well, and the pads performance actually got better as I kept using them.

No sqeaks, no noise, no dust, back to single finger brake modulation. I love these pads!

Pros: Phenomenal grabbing power over anything I have tried before! These will be my pads for life.

Cons: The springs they came with were deformed. Use the previous springs...

EBC Disc Brake Pads

These pads are a great price but you pay for what you get! First off they did not come with the springs! I guess I should of checked but I have always received springs. THey wore out way to fast, I only really got 1 1/2 to 2 months out of them on my Formula RX brakes. I will never buy these again.

Durable pad with great modulation

Running XT hydraulic brakes on my 29er. These are the second set of EBC's on the bike and they have always performed well from a modulation and fade perspective. I have gotten the front brakes so hot that the stainless rotors have a golden tint near the friction surface, and still no fade.

Pads are rotor friendly. First set resulted in about 0.1mm of thickness reduction and no scoring.

Pros: Good all around brake pad

Cons: A little bit of noise when they get wet or muddy, but that is with most pads

I ordered these in the Red - most aggressive compound. I can say the perfromance was good, but they didn't last very long. To be expected with such an aggressive pad. What I wasn't happy about is that I had to break out the dremmel to gring some material off to make them compatible with my calipers. Based on this - I can't recommend them
