These are cheaper than buying new levers, if you have got a vintage bike with dry-rotted hoods. They fit perfectly after a bit of tugging, and they feel good in the hand. If you have the right setup and don't mind non-aero, then you will probably be drawn to these on your own. Pros: $10 is a fine price if your present levers are operational, as you won't get new levers any cheaper. Cons: If the lever mechanicals are in poor condition, it might be a good idea just to replace the entire lever at a little more than twice this price. works well for many old non-aero levers these little hoods are sweet for replacing lost hoods on old bikes. however, a nice mod to do is to cut away the rubber where the lever actuates so it doesn't get in the way of brake action. Aside from that, these little guys are sweet! Pros: makes that old bike look sexy again Cons: the slot where the brakes actuate really should be larger, but you can just cut them

These are the perfect generic looking hood for old school brake levers. I have applied 3 pairs of these on different bikes, and for every bike I have had to cut away the bottom of the hood so the lever could be pulled without any restriction. An exacto or box knife works perfectly and solves the interference issue just fine. Pros: Price, simple look Cons: They take minor modification to work best. good value Good feel for my Gran Compe series brakes. Not a perfect fit on the very front where the cable comes through but tight around the sides. may require a little hot soapy water to install. Better than the sticky ripped hoods they replaced and for the right price. Reviewed on: April 16, 2011 Reviewed by: james s., South Carolina Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
just what I was looking for! These worked great, and I was able to fully refurbish my old mid-80s Dia-Comp brakes with these. My old "gold" hoods had completely deteriorated into a yellow ooze over the years. I was glad to find these...an exact fit! Pros: Perfect fit and look. Cons: None. Fits well on old Dia Compe brake levers Pros: Fits well
Cheap Cons: Not anywhere near the quality of the old gum hoods that originally came with Dia Compe brakes. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: September 09, 2010 Reviewed by: Steve D. Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
