The jury is still out on these.
I usually get two decent rides in a week and have done maybe 6 races this year. On bigger rides or at the last few miles on race day I typically get those familiar twinges of leg cramp.
The last race I took these capsules before and during the race. Popping two at a time, maybe 10 total over a 30 mile MTB race. I actually started cramping earlier than usual, it was a hot one and maybe I was having a particularly crap day and it would have been even worse without these.
My riding buddy thinks they helped him. I will persevere with these on futures big rides and races.
Pros: May help with cramp. Cons: Not necessarily the magic pill. Would Buy Again: No Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: September 11, 2012 Reviewed by: Christopher H., California Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Convinced now it's not a placebo I waited a while before writing this review because I wanted to ensure it wasn't a placebo effect with these caps. I can assure you that when you are cramping and you continually pop these pills that they will help to make those cramps subside. I didn't use to cramp but with my rides increasing in distance and my age rising they seemed worth a shot. I'm glad I tried them. Well worth every penny and actually a great deal for how many you get in a bottle. Pros: cheap, effective, light Cons: they're not free Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: July 02, 2012 Reviewed by: Mark S., Oregon Was this review Helpful? Essential Electrolytes for long - long rides I pack these with me for every 24hr race. They have held of cramps on more than one occasion. Pros: Good mix of electrolytes are a big help in preventing cramps. Cons: They make you feel better, but not sure how much is placebo Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: April 10, 2012 Reviewed by: Justin D., Oregon Was this review Helpful? Nice option for replenishing I like the idea behind these.
An extra boost of electrolyte, or completely control your intake and just drink water and eat dried fruit and nuts and use the tablets for replenishment.
I did find they gave me gas and made me bloated though. Have since stopped using them and fine.
Pros: Control your intake Cons: Try before you buy if you can just in case they don't agree with your body. Would Buy Again: No Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: November 12, 2011 Reviewed by: Jonathon M., Vancouver BC Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Such a great product for 24 hr or Enduro races as they help to prevent muscle cramping when used in a complete nutritional system. They help to supply your body with the electrolytes your body requires to keep the muscles firing. Easy to ingest, quality in production, Nothing harmful & they are vegan which helps if you are vegan. Pros: Helps to eliminate muscle fatigue due to lack of electrolytes
Convenient
Easy to digest
Vegan Cons: None Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: August 13, 2011 Reviewed by: R. T., Manitoba Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
I started using Endurolytes several years ago when I was training for an endurance event. I don't leave the house without them on long rides or on rides during hot weather. I'm not a fan of flavored water, so I perfer these to being forced to drink flavored water during the entire duration of a long ride - Pop a couple down every so often and drink regular water. Thumbs up electrolyte replenishment! Pros: Easily packable. Cons: Be sure to take a big swig of water first, because these are not tiny and can be a little hard to swallow if your mouth or throat are dry. helps eliminate cramping, I used them for long endurance races when I just can't seem to get enough electrolytes from mixes. There is nothing worse than cramping legs after 6+hours of riding. Pros: keeps you going Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: December 08, 2010 Reviewed by: Paul M., Texas Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Prevent Cramps I love these. Hammer hit the nail on the head (haha). Seriously, I use these in training and all my endurance races. A couple each hour help to fend of those pesky cramps. Pros: Effective, cheap, does the trick. Cons: I have to take a lot of them - I wish they had a "bigger" pill. Must try for cramping These reduced cramping a lot for me, especially on hot, long days. Don't need to use drink mixes, just bring a handful of these caps along and eat at regular intervals.
They are also way cheaper than drink mix... I don't need nearly as much as the label suggests. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: October 17, 2010 Reviewed by: b, Washington Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
These capsules help with muscle cramping and soreness/weakness due to depleted electrolytes. There are other, less expensive ways of getting your "salts" as in energy drinks, gels or sport snacks, but nothing is as convenient or concentrated as popping a couple of these during a ride/race. Pros: Quick and easy to consume. Cons: Pricey. Perhaps, not the best solution for everyone. Endurolytes work great when you don't want extra bottles or mixes to mess with. Can also be used as emergency back up when you hit the wall and have nothing to eat. Pros: Small and light.
