Hammer Gel 26 Serving Bottle

Good Value option if you like gel

I bought the vanilla, which is the only flavor gel I seem to be able to stomach from Hammer. While I have determined gels are not my cup of tea on the trail, this product worked well for me while I was using it.

Pros: I like the volume discount of the bigger bottle and the easy 5 serving shot bottle you can get to dispense while riding.

I like the natural approach Hammer takes to their products. This gel is good, somewhat different than a lot of the little pouches that make you gag and chock as you try to keep them down. I have also used it to flavour water in one of my bottles.

Personally, I prepare it with a bit of warm water to dilute it and allow it to be consumed a bit more easily. However, in doing so, I don't get the kick of energy I expect, and I was recently told to hold it under the tongue for a more immediate absorption into the blood stream, which seemed to help.

Pros: Natural , long lasting, easy to eat.

Vanilla

The vanilla is the only one I've tried, but the flavor is so simple, I can't imagine getting sick of it. Not too sweet. Epic amounts of power. This stuff just plain keeps me going.

Pros: Simple, effective
Flavor isn't over-the-top
Doesn't leave me with power-gel-mouth
Gobs of additional leg power.

Apple Cinamon

Apple Cinnamon is the one flavor I love from Hammer. It is tasty and doesn't cause any stomach issues on hard rides or races. The large bottle can get old if not stored correctly, but having a large bottle, a flask, and a flavor that you like leads to a happy biker.

Pros: Apple Cinnamon flavor, large bottle is economical

Cons: use quickly after opening to keep from spoiling.

More affordable than single use packets and with the Hammer plastic flask you can bring on the ride however much gel you need

Pros: Easier to use w/ the Hammer plastic flask than single use packets

Cons: Hammer doesn't make a lemon-lime flavor like GU.

went with the bottle for less waste and with the gel bottle for the bike ease of use hammer makes some of the best easy to digest gels on the market.

Economical sizing, much more efficient than single serving gels. Easy to fill a flask or whatever you happen to use.

Pros: Great taste, economical sizing

Cons: I just don't like the texture of gels all that much. The taste of Hammer Gel (raspberry is amazing) makes it all better though.

Hammer Gel

Great for diabetics as it does not spike your blood-glucose levels.

Pros: works and mixes well into other drinks

Cons: very sweet when ingested as is but that goes for other gels as well.

After using packets for awhile I switched to the bottles and flasks. These make so much more sense for everyday training and riding. I don't think I'd ever go back to the packets. And as far as gels go, Hammer, in my opinion, is the best.

Pros: environmentally friendly, more economical than packets, quality ingredients
