These are a good solution to the problem of linear pull brakes with drop bar sti levers. I don't really like using caliper brakes, I don't like the chatter that I get out of cantilevers, and it's hard to find good centerpulls that have long reach for cross forks, but I'm not going to get rid of my comfy drop bars and sit levers to use linear pull brakes.
So the travel agent. They are nicely made, fit in place of a noodle with no fuss or bother, and seem to reliably give me the cable pull the linear pull brakes need. I couldn't do it without them, so I recommend them wholeheartedly. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: January 20, 2013 Reviewed by: David P., Oregon Was this review Helpful? Solved my problem! I had moved to trekking bars on my Bianchi Advantage Hybrid and wanted to use multiple brake levers.. The problem was that both the reverse levers and the interrupter levers I wanted to use are road levers, and the bike has linear pull brakes. The Travel agent solved the incompatibility between the cable pull of the brakes vs levers. Installation was relatively simple, instructions were excellent and easy to follow. Pros: 1. It works!
2. Easy installation. Simply replaces the noodle.
3. Price/value for what it does.
Cons: I had to do a minor bend in the stanchions on the rear rack to allow clearance for the travel agent. This may be unique to my application. Great! Neat little device for doing oddball setups. Putting together drop-bar MTBs usually means cobbling together separate v-brake specific levers with a barend shifter or some other less than desirable combo. These allow for a smooth, reliable STI setup to drop right on. Pros: Allows the use of STI or reverse levers with v-brakes.
Barrel adjuster makes for a one-piece solution. Cons: They could have rounded off the end where it slides into the stirrup, as it can be a bit of a pain compared to a brake noodle.
The need to make a cover for it, as mud and gunk thrown up by a tire can make it sound a bit squeaky. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: April 16, 2011 Reviewed by: Timothy S. Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
This is a really ingenious device. I wanted to keep V brakes on my Crosscheck with Sram levers so this created the linkage. They work really well and the instructions are very straightforward so you don't need a bike shop to help you. Pros: Allows you to use it for multiple purposes ad setups. Cons: Doesn't look clean Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: March 08, 2011 Reviewed by: Dominique p., New York Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
