As an economical solution, this does work, but you shouldn't buy this for amazing stopping power. We were constrained in rebuilding a bike in that we needed a cross style brake, and these fit in the small frame we were working on. Somewhat fussy to get them tight and solid, but that may also have been a result of the setup we had - having to use hangers off seat post clamp to run cabling. On a normal frame-supported cable support, these should be okay. Pros: Price Cons: Modest strength and performance, suited to price. Gets the job done - lots of mud clearance. cost effective for crossin' Pros: Cheap, good looks. Cons: A little underpowered. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: June 14, 2011 Reviewed by: Nicholas L. Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Canti brakes can be quite a pain to set up but these make it easier. There is a good ammount of adjustability for toe-in and angle and the return spring tension adjust is good. Cartridge style pads make the brakes appealing as it is easy to change pads for conditions or rims. Brake shudder can still be a problem even with good set-up as the pivots and mounting hardware are not manufactured to very tight tolerances but that is to be expected considering the price. Over all a fairly good brake for the price. Pros: Price, adjustability. Cons: Some brake shudder is unavoidable Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: October 06, 2010 Reviewed by: Stuart P., International Was this review Helpful? These brakes are ok. I needed to replace someone removing from a bike I purchased. I was not real impressed. Too much adjusting and noisy if not perfectly adjusted. Pros: They looked cool. Cons: noisy Would Buy Again: No Would Recommend: No Reviewed on: October 02, 2010 Reviewed by: ARIC S., Washington Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Needed cantilevers for my touring bike; these worked perfectly. Easy to setup and adjust. However, to make setup as easy as is possible with cantilevers be sure to use Wheels Mfg Extra Wide Straddle Carriers rather than Tektro Z Links.
