Super tough, great looking, affordable headset. Spent a winter on the Pugsly with not a complaint. Love the oversized bearings, not sure if I'd notice smaller bearings, but you can't go wrong for the price.

FSA Pig Headset

I used this headset on my downhill race bike and never noticed it that's a good thing. Just clean and pack the bearings every year and this headset will last you for years.

Pros: Very strong, stands the test of time

Cons: heave.

Great Value

Unsealed bearings, but otherwise a very strong and durable headset with lots of style!
Some people might need to make some adjustment to fit a front brake due to the oversize bottom bearing. I had to get a spacer and a longer recessed nut to fit my rim brake properly.

Pros: Value

Cons: Unsealed bearings.

Super burly headset. Large bearings dont get contaminated easily. Good deal.

Solid headset

I've researched headsets and this one came up as an excellent choice from many websites (MTBR.com), so I bought one and am impressed. Thick-walled cups and all metal design.

Pros: Inexpensive, installs easy and works.

Cons: None.

Good strong headset, good price. Way better than the stock headset that comes on most lower priced bikes. Its beefy and heavy, but holds up well to moderate abuse from me. Like the other reviewers mentioned. its not sealed, so requires more maintenance if you want it to last in wet weather. Its a trade off I can live with. Good value for the money if you can do the maintenance, otherwise get the sealed version

Pros: Strong

Cons: heavy, not sealed

The Sleeper

This one surprised me. I was replacing a bike that got run over when I purchased this headset 6 months ago and I was on a budget so I saw this bad boy for 23 bucks and figured I'd give it a go. I jump curbs all day long with a rigid fork and this baby hasn't even flinched. The real testament to its strength though is that I went headlong into an SUV that cut me off, irreparably damaging my frame and forks, not to mention the lacerated spleen. I pulled it off and stuck it on the new frame, and 3 months later, it shows no signs of letting me down. The only drawback to it is that the clearance for my front caliper brake is super tight, but it fits, so I can't complain.

Pros: Super strong for the price.

Cons: You may run into some clearance issues with some caliper brakes, I run a Cane Creek SCR-3L caliper on an All-City Big Block and I can't even get a piece of paper between the two.

Decent headset for the money. Not sealed so not recomended for wet climates. Splurge and get the Pig DH.

Pros: Price point

Cons: Bearrings rusted quickly in the PNW wet climate. It would hold up better in a dry area
