Hubs need to be maintained to ensure proper adjustment, proper lubrication, etc. Over time, new grease needs to be put in the hub for maximum durability. If a hub is dry, over tight, or loose, it doesn't take long for it to become a bigger problem or even a dangerous situation.
- We disassemble the rear hub for cleaning and re-greasing
- Cassette or Freewheel is removed and lightly cleaned
- Hub shell is cleaned and examined for integrity
- We remove the axle and bearings (Cartridge or loose ball)
- Cartridge bearings that are serviceable are opened, cleaned with degreaser and re-lubricated
- Cartridge bearings are replaced if needed (Purchased separately)
- Loose bearings are replaced if needed
- If the freehub can be lubricated, we will make sure light oil or grease is put in
- If a new freehub body needs to be installed, we will do that (Purchased separately)
- Cones are assessed for wear and we will notify the customer if they need replacement
- The hub is then re-assembled and properly adjusted according to manufacturer specs
Rear hub overhaul/service
Excellent service by very knowledgable mechanic! Replaced all internal parts on my Hadley rear hub.
Pros: Timely, yet meticulous and comprehensive service
Cons: Rebuild kit that I had to buy was kind of spendy and took awhile to get from Hadley (few weeks) just for one small part that needed to be replaced (not shop's fault at all). Service was kind of spendy at $50 as well ($120 w/bearings and rebuild kit total), but mechanic (Aaron) did a great job with rebuild to make sure everything was right.
