These Grips rock. These grips are the best for long days in the saddle. They spread your weight across the palm of your hand instead of this little round bar. they are a lot thicker than a round grip so I don't think I would ever use them on an off road rig but for commuting and touring you cant go wrong with this grip. Pros: They lock on, remove pressure points by spreading the weight across a wider area. Cons: Too thick to use for off road unless you have big hands. I purchased this to help remedy the numbness I experience on rides lasting longer than 3 or so hours. So far these have reduced the numbness by giving more support for the palm area. Pros: Provides support to reduce numbness on longer rides. Cons: Some slight slipping when taking all-mountain sized jumps. You can white knuckle and NOT kill your hands! I tried these out this summer and was sold immediately on them! It was mostly on rides with lots of downhill that I was feeling like my hands were cramping too much. I tried these and that cramping went away. Yes, they're a little more heavy but I'll take the trade off. They're super comfortable and feel nice. They do take some time to get just right as far as the angle so take a tool with you when you ride. Pros: Comfortable, no hand cramps Cons: Expensive, heavy Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: October 26, 2012 Reviewed by: Mark S., Oregon Was this review Helpful? In my opinion, Ergon makes the best grips, hands down (pun intended). I love the single clamp, they feel so very good & if set up properly, they do alleviate most if not all numbness & pressure on the ulnar nerve. I have found them to be very durable. Essentially they increase the enjoyment of your ride. Pros: Proper Ergonomic design

Like my other Ergon grips, awesome! I'm an Ergon convert :) I have to admit, I love their grips. I have GC3s on my commuter and one of my weekend bikes, but I wanted something for my MTB build and without bar ends. I wasn't sure how these would work out for trail riding, but I'm very happy to say they worked out great. Like all other Ergon grips the larger platform with soft inserts greatly reduces hand fatigue and they function pretty well while trail riding, even when standing up on pedals. It took a little trial and error to get them just right though. The clamp keeps the grip in place securely too. They also look pretty cool on a MTB :D Pros: Great comfort, reduce hand strain, look nice on a bike :) Cons: None at all. It was a piece of cake to get the angle dialed in, and a relief for my hands when I did. My bike always felt under control with the large grips, but then I do wear XL gloves. Pros: Comfortable

I have problems with numbness and pain in my hands, and old injuries in my neck and shoulders that prevent me from riding drop bars and other aggressive positions. For awhile I thought my riding days were going to be a lot shorter or even over. These things, however, allow me to ride much longer and more comfortably than before. I own various permutations of these (small and large, the lightweight versions and now the cork ones) and they all work equally well. There has been a specially specced version for one of the big online dealers that has a plastic clamp, I would suggest staying away from it. As far as I know, Universal only sells the ones with aluminum clamps.
Play around with the angle - READ THE INSTRUCTIONS Pros: Incredibly comfortable
Much improved packaging Cons: Not as grippy under hot conditions as I would like. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: June 13, 2011 Reviewed by: Orlando, Canada Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Not for me I tried these for several months and adjusted them to every position, but for me, they never lived up to the hype. Cons: -you're restricted to just a couple hand positions
-because you can't wrap your hand fully around the grip, it feels less secure in fast downhill situations. Would Buy Again: No Would Recommend: No Reviewed on: March 17, 2011 Reviewed by: George H., Wisconsin Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
If you've never tried these grips before, now it's time. Once you get them in the correct position, these things are comfortable. I use them on my Surly Pugsley and I just love them. I like them so much, that I also bought my wife a pair for her touring bike. Pros: Comfort

I was leery of trying these grips but I'm glad I did. The ergonomic profile resulted in a marked improvement in hand comfort. I've used these with riser bars and Surly Open Bars and they work well on both styles of bars. Pros: Increased hand comfort. Cons: Takes a bit of dialing in the position to find the sweet spot. They really help disperse the pressure on your hands. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: November 22, 2010 Reviewed by: Ryan B., Washington Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Cleaner design than the similar ergons with bar ends. Works well and are easy to adjust on the trail to get the angle just right. I feel like these do reduce the rider control to a very small degree since 2 or 3 fingers can't wrap around the grip completely. Very comfy They do look a bit odd, but if you set them at the right angle your wrists will love you.
I have them on a Titec H-bar on my xtracycle. Pros: Comfortable enough for daily use without gloves. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: October 19, 2010 Reviewed by: Nick L., Minnesota Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Despite their geeky appearance, these grips are amazing. I used these to update my Dad's '86 Schwinn High Sierra and they fit the bill perfectly. They provide lots of comfort in flat bar or riser applications. I would recommend them for commuters or people touring.
I think the price is reasonable, and you get what you pay for, though first time buyers might balk a bit. The wear is slow. I've tried other cheaper versions of this out of soft rubber and they do not compare. These are much more comfortable. Pros: -very comfortable
-great commuting/recreational grip Cons: -Seems like a lot to spend at first Would Buy Again: Yes Reviewed on: September 16, 2010 Reviewed by: Mat W, California Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
The only grip I'll use I have spent hundreds of dollars trying out various grips (including nearly every Ergon model), and I always come back to this. Takes a little while to get them positioned just right, but once you do, they're awesome. Tip: don't bother with the "large" size unless you wear XXL gloves or will never ride the bike in technical conditions. Pros: Comfort
Control

I hated these! Sorry. I did not like these. Had hand and wrist pain and numbing. Not only did these not help they made y bike totally un-managable!
Maybe ok for strait-forward XC or road riding, not for the trails.
Cant get around the grips so no hops, even mauals are tough, forget about the tight stuff.
Also Way too much packing-plastic diplay-hardbord! bad news.
However its a well made product and if you are trying everything you might as well try these. Lots of good folks like them very much. Pros: Well made, easy to adjust, quality components, rubber has a nice feel. Cons: Manufacturer dosnt explain how these will change the way your bike handles. You can no longer get your hands around the grips.

Ergon GP1 Grips Review I use these grips on my flat-bar road bike, which has a carbon fork mated to relative stiff aluminum frame and handlebars. In the seven weeks since I've purchased the Ergon GP1 Grips, I've racked up about 800 miles. Included among these was a two-day 190 mile trip from North Portland to Eugene much of it along the Willamette Valley Scenic Bikeway. Even after nine and ten hour days on the bike, the grips are remarkably comfortable. The soft palm inserts noticeably cut down vibration over the stock grips that came with the bike. Best of all, I no longer experience the mild tingling and slight weakness in my hands that attended previous long trips.
Installation is very simple: slide them on and tighten the clamping bolt with a hex wrench. The grips took a bit of fiddling to dial in to the correct angle for my particular body geometry. Over the course of the first couple of days I made three or four minor adjustments until I was happy with the results. When tightened down to published torque specifications, these grips do not shift, so once you get them dialed in it is pretty much a set-it-forget operation.
Pros: Comfortable
Well made Cons: Position is unique to rider, so they are not great if the bike must be shared among riders. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: September 01, 2010 Reviewed by: Stephen K., Oregon Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
