Deep lugs for such a narrow tire. I had a ridiculously difficult time getting these mounted on Arch wheels. There didn't seem to be enough relief in the wheel to let the bead drop in to let the tire levers get the rest of the bead on. I put the tires in hot water in the tub and used soapy water on the wheel and finally got them mounted. I used tubes and am concerned what I will do if I need to change a tube on the trail, but I think a bit of use will make these more user friendly. Pretty good traction on the dry trails I ride. Good rolling tire, alright in the corners, seem to get pushed around by trail obstacles more than wider tires. After trying these now I will go back to wider tires soon as I have found that is what I prefer.
