Absolutely love it. Should have gotten one of these a long time ago. Love the customization available on it. Pros: EVERYTHING!! Cons: Scrathes easilly Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: December 11, 2012 Reviewed by: Ryan J. Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Great for triathlon training This unit does about everything I would hope for. I was looking forward to using it for Strava, instead of my phone (no more dead battery in the middle of the ride!) I have also found it indispensible in training for triathlons. The heart rate thresholds make sure I stay in the right zone. I appreciate the timer which reminds me to eat every 25 minutes. This unit is very configurable, with an uncomplicated design. Pros: Comes with two mounts. Move it between bikes!
Simple design
Configurable
Long battery life Cons: The mount consists of rubber bands, which hold strong when new, but who knows when they will fail. Buy an aftermarket mount.
Heart rate strap caused chaffing. Moved the monitor to a Polar strap (same design) and eliminated the problem. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: October 14, 2012 Reviewed by: Ron C., Oregon Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
This thing is awesome. The setup is easy. There are 3 pages of data fields and with the new firmware you can do up to 5. Cadence/speed was easy to set up. Link it with garmin connect or strava for detailed output. More numbers than I'll ever need!
I never used an HRM before but it is actually changing the way I train! Pros: easy set up, more data fields than you'll ever need, endless functionality Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: July 04, 2012 Reviewed by: phil, New York Was this review Helpful? Great GPS Switched from using mobile phone due toGPS inaccuracy. This unit takes a bit to setup, but is solid. Nice to have 5 screens to set custom menus (look for software update online as of mid 2012). Very accurate, doesn't even need speed sensor setup, many features, very customizable, easy to upload to a variety of recording software packages. The included Garmin software is modest, but a number of the free apps/websites take the data and will upload.
Data created is in .fit format, but can be imported to any .gpx or similar device or program.
There are no concerns with rubber band mounting - secure, simple and adaptable.
Do not use your smart phones, check online, many eventually switch to live satellite, and this is a great option. Pros: Very accurate, small, customizable Cons: One glitch noted online - hit reset to save ride BEFORE unit powers down or you may lose ride data, and join the online community of frustrated users. Don't like the screen advance button on bottom left, as I prefer a right hand use, but that is very detailed.
