I do not have the extreme model. I use them for road bikes find them well built and very sturdy. They hold the bikes very well both front and back well. They do not interfer with the spokes, derailleurs, or skewers. I did line the vertical tubing with foam pipe insulation being anal for a nicer wheel fit. It is not necessary, but makes a nice touch and enhanced protective fit.
