lizard skins These do what they are supposed to but you don't get very many and they are expensive. Better off buying a roll of helicopter tape and cutting it up. Pros: Very thick and adhesive works well. Cons: expensive Would Buy Again: No Would Recommend: No Reviewed on: March 06, 2013 Reviewed by: bud m., katy,tx Was this review Helpful? Wish these were clear stickers. Lizard logo looks silly anywhere stuck on your frame. Pros: protects frame Cons: lizards Would Buy Again: No Would Recommend: No Reviewed on: October 08, 2012 Reviewed by: es, Oregon Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
These things are great to protect your frame from housing rub. I prefer the clear over the carbon because the clear are hardly noticable except for the lizard logo on it. Even the logo is hardly noticable.
If you pull them off, they come off easily and don't leave a sticky residue. If you don't want to pull them off...they stay in place forever. Pros: stays on the bike
protects the frame Cons: none Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: September 12, 2012 Reviewed by: Stewart C., Oregon Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
nice frame protectors These are nice clear frame protectors that work well. They're not too thick which is nice as well. I could do without the Lizard Skins lizard design on them but my frame is grey and the lizard is grey so it doesn't bother me too much. Pros: nice quality protectors
not too thick Cons: large logo design Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: August 20, 2012 Reviewed by: Ed S., Sacramento, CA Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Frame Protection I like to use these to protect my custom frame from cable rub. They work great but I wish they did not have the lizard on them and were clear instead. Pros: Good stick on clean frame. Protects frame. Cons: Etched Lizard is unnecessary. "Within days of getting my new bike i had " Cable rub". So i had to get these to protect the frame work!
They are still doing a great job and there are no signs of wear on them, so they last a while!! Would recomend these to all" Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: April 12, 2012 Reviewed by: joon k., California Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
It is a good idea but I am not too impressed with how well they stay attached or how well they conform to my bike's anatomy. Would Buy Again: No Would Recommend: No Reviewed on: March 30, 2012 Reviewed by: Robert E., Oregon Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Been using these on a Long travel full suspension mountain for 2 years and I have found them to be very durable. The adhesive provided on the back, has held up through many times of power washing the bike.
The only change I would make is that I would increase the length of the protectors. Pros: Woek great even in prominently wet conditions. Cons: I wish the protectors came in different sizes. Good invisable protecter If you want a clean look on your frame but want that extra protection from cable rub, then this is for you. Lizard Skin Fram Protectors Great for those high rub areas. The area must be fairly flat and clean before installing. I had a few lift up on the edges on curved parts. They work great on the bigger areas though. Pros: Protects like its suppose to. Cons: I wish they were just clear and no lizard. Protects the frame and no too obvious. Could be cheaper for what is is. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: September 07, 2011 Reviewed by: david d., California Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
These stickers work great. Tough material and thick enough to not wear out, but thin enough to still be flexible to fit even tightly curved spots. The adhesive sticks well and I've never had one start to peel up. The only negative is that the white Lizard Skins logo in the middle is quite visible on darker frames Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: August 22, 2011 Reviewed by: Nate, California Was this review Helpful? I bought these to help protect my newly refinished frame. They work great for small rub areas and I have had no problems with them pealing or collecting dirt and grim. Pros: Easy to apply, durable even under braided hoses. Cons: None Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: July 11, 2011 Reviewed by: Jeremy D., Oregon Was this review Helpful? Protects the paint if installed correctly Does what it's intended to do if you installed it correctly. However, eventually the patch can fall off. They really do save your frame! The stick on easily and hold well (make sure to clean with isopropyl first). They even stick to "curvy" parts of the frame. I've used them for several years and can attest to the fact that they save on cable rub at trouble spots. Better than non-transparent "carbon". Unlike other reviewers, I don't find these ugly.
If you put them where the frame needs protection from cables etc., the little lizard is hidden by the cables anyway. The transparent lets the natural frame color show trough.
I tried the "carbon" alternatives a few years ago and they were too stiff and soon peeled off. Pros: Essentially transparent. Cons: Expensive. Patch per dollar ratio is not good !. Protects your rig from cable rub. Pros: Sticks well if you prep surface with alcohol. Cons: Logo Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: March 06, 2011 Reviewed by: Joe K., Washington Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Like other reviewer mentioned, they work but they're ugly. I would say these make a good case for going with the budget generic stuff vs the "name brand" lizard skins stuff. The stupid lizard skins logo is ugly and I dunno why they decided to put it on these "clear" frame protectors. Now if I wanna protect my frame I have to advertise for Lizard Skins. I found some nice clean 3M protectors with no logo and ended up just giving these away. Pros: -Great if you're sponsored by Lizard Skins Cons: -ugly
-Not "clear"
-Real "clear" generic stuff can be had for cheaper and is much more aesthetically pleasing(IE they are actually clear) Would Buy Again: No Would Recommend: No Reviewed on: October 19, 2010 Reviewed by: Shaun K., New Jersey Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
These sort of work, but they're ugly. It's like putting vinyl on the "nice couch" so it doesn't get wrecked. Yeah, but now it has vinyl on it. It's ridiculous that they felt they had to put their logo on these little squares of plastic. I'll stick to strapping tape. Lizard skins clear frame protectors Very handy in keeping the shifter cables from abrading the paint off the head tube. They are very discreet and non-obvious, they almost disappear. Pros: keeps the paint on the bike. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: September 23, 2010 Reviewed by: Daniel P., Washington Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Simple little product for protecting your frame from cable wear. You could use electical tape, but these are cooler. I use them for those spots on the head tube and fork where the cables rub. they work I have five of these on my frame. The corner peeled on one so I trimmed it off, but other than that no problems. Clear is nice. Simple, yet effective at protecting your frame from cable rub. I only wish they did not have that ugly logo on them, which does stand out when stuck on a black frame. Pros: protects well Cons: logo Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: September 13, 2010 Reviewed by: Colin K., Virginia Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
These seem to be hit or miss when it comes to the adhesive. Some have lasted for years, and some have peeled up in a few months. Whatever you do, make sure you clean your frame/fork AND hands before installing. They work. Stick them on and your frame wont get cable scuffs there. Magic!
The Logo is a little annoying on a otherwise clean frame. They don't always stick the best over welds and peel off sometimes. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: September 02, 2010 Reviewed by: Bryan L., Wisconsin Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
