AM but not DH I've tried these and the CB Mallet DH pedals and think I prefer the DH pedals. These are lighter weight but IMO I'd rather have the all alloy DHs.
I use CB Egg Beaters on my XC bike so it's nice to be able to switch shoes between pedals/bikes. Biggest difference between these and the Egg Beaters is weight, easier to get your feet on and more pedal strikes because they're larger. Pros: Lighter weight than the DH pedals. Plus the CB four way engagement clips. Cons: Don't feel as beefy as the DHs. I like the ability to clip out on tricky sections or just wear flats if I am going for a short ride or am not in the mood for clipless. These pedals dont beat up my shins like my old ones but still give plenty of grip when I am riding flats Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: March 05, 2013 Reviewed by: Hamish M., New York Was this review Helpful? Good, Solid Pedals. Surprisingly Durable. Got these pedals at the start of the downhill race season. Took them to many races and have been smashed into a bunch of rocks but have been surprisingly sturdy, considering Crank Bros from the past. Just started to develop a noticeable amount of play at the end of the season, but are still going. Pros: Sturdy for Crank Bros
Easy to clip in/out of
Adjustable pin height
Good amount of platform
Cons: Smashed the pins on the plastic part of the pedal fairly easily.
Consider rebuilding these after a season of racing/riding. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: November 18, 2012 Reviewed by: Ryan, California Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Love these for DH Great pedals for DH.
In my opinion, drop the pins low and wear regular xc shoes. Having the pins to high with sticky rubber shoes (5.10), OMG, you will not be able to unclip. you will be strapped in for dear life. crashcity! Pros: Good overall pedals Cons: Too too grippy with raised pins and sticky rubber DH shoes. Work well and solid These pedals, unlike the last two versions, hold up to abuse. They engage well and I don't have to think about them. Pros: Look and perform very well Cons: None Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: April 20, 2012 Reviewed by: Enduro Dude, New Mexico Was this review Helpful? Promising update to popular clipless platform pedal I've only ridden them a few times, but so far, so good. They easy get in and out of, the pin height is adjustable and the design doesn't look like everything else out there. What remains to be seen is how they hold over time. Pros: Stylish, light and now with bearings all around. Cons: Unproven reliability, which has never been a Crank Brother strength.
