Its a cog, not much to it but it works great. I am using the 22t which doesnt have the plastic chain guide, but i have a 1x setup so i dont think it is needed. Finish looks nice hopefully it stay shiny.

Necessary

These get the job done and there are a decent variety of tooth counts.

Pros: -sturdy
-fit well

Cons: -a little more dish would be nice for Alfine-equipped mountain bikes.

I bought a few of these to change gearing on a couple of bikes. One uses a 8sp Nexus IGH and the other is a vintage SA 3sp. Both were geared entirely to high for the hills in my neighborhood.

My lady friend loved her IGH. She did not love the gear ratios. This solved that problem. I don't expect it to fail.

It's fortunate that these are available because they wear out quickly in the conditions that an IGH are best for - wet and grimy. Check for wear often if you're riding in these conditions. Mine only lasted 1k miles or so. Not much fun to deal with the snap-ring retention system on Shimano IGH, FWIW.

Pros: The right part for the job, affordable

Cons: Wears quickly, could be easier to service

Fits Shimano coaster brake hubs

It wasn't clear to me from the description, but they fit Shimano coaster brake hubs perfectly. I chose the 22T for my beach bikes. The cogs are perfectly formed and well finished. They hold up great, even with doses of sand and saltwater.

Works great on the SRAM Torpedo Hub

I bought this to change out the rear cog on my SRAM Torpedo hub. It was super easy to change and it works great. I haven't put a ton of miles on it but don't expect any problems. Teeth seem to be milled at a hight tolerance and for the money, how can you go wrong.

Pros: Cheap, easy to install

Does the trick

First off, there aren't any alternatives to the Shimano 3-spline cogs that I'm aware of.
These basic cogs do the trick as designed. The cog can be installed in either direction - dished side in or out - to help with chain line alignmnet.

Obviously, your choices are limited, but thankfully, Shimano has kept these on par with the hubs for which they are designed. Steel for durability and reversible for finicky chainlines. And shiny!

This cog fit my wife's Alfine 8 hub with no issues. I really like the option of flipping it to adjust the chainline. With it flipped inboard, it lines up perfectly with our SRAM GXP track cranks. It's steel and will last a long time.

Well made cog that last a long time. The various sizes are nice to change our gear ratio on the alfine hub.

Shimano quality. Can be reversed for chainline adjustment. Available in a wide range of sizes. Inexpensive.

Pros: Uses the Sturmey/Shimano/SRAM three spline standard.
