Super light weight fenders. Had clearance issues on the front on my trek 1.5. Had to cut the front off a bit because it wouldn't clear the brake. They work pretty well once adjusted. They do rub occasionally and make a little noise but overall pretty good. Pros: Keeps the water off. Cons: Can rub a bit and make noise. 50/50 on this one If you're fitting these to an older road bike with the unicrown front fork..forgetaboutit.
The rear required installing the braces half way up the seatstays.
The fronts refused to work regardless on what I did. I contacted Crud and asked if these fenders were ever meant to be used with the older style unicrown forks and got a 'probably not' response.
The rear fender, once set up correctly has performed admirably. Hasn't worked loose or rubbed the tire and certainly HAS kept the road crud off me and the bike frame.
Locktite threadlocker (blue) is advised and I went with it on the plastic screws.
If CRUD can come up with a better universal design for front forks this might be a winner.
I'd be hesitant about using the rubber o rings on anything carbon fibre with gel coat.
Pros: lightweight fairly rugged Cons: requires a lot of finagling to set up correctly and the front fenders will not work on the U style unicrown forks Would Buy Again: No Would Recommend: No Reviewed on: February 16, 2013 Reviewed by: Richard M. These fenders are great if your bike has some really tight clearances. They're a little flimsy and take some patience to install but that's a small price to pay to have full fenders. I bought these for my cross bike, not realizing that they do not have clearance for 28cm tires. 23cm would definitely be the max Pros: easy to install, lightweight Cons: wish they made these in a size that would fit up to 35cm tires Would Buy Again: No Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: March 01, 2012 Reviewed by: joshua , oregon Was this review Helpful? VERY lightweight fenders with good coverage These are great fenders for those looking for light weight and easy mounting. Pros: Extremely light weight. New model has good coverage, particularly around the chain. Relatively inexpensive for quality. Cons: Relatively fragile and can shatter when bumped in cold weather. They do not fit all frames and are best suited to standard frames with caliper road brakes. The MK2 mudguards are great. When set up properly they keep you and your bike clean. And much drier than my bike designed for full fenders. They are durable and attractive. I ride Brevets and leave them on all the time with little thought and attention.
I ride year round in New England,in heavy rain and snow, these fenders are the best I have ever used. Pros: Full coverage, durable and attractive.
Keep you and your bike clean and dry.
Excellent price point. Cons: None Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: September 23, 2011 Reviewed by: Al M., Connecticut Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Possible Fit Issues Somewhat decent coverage These fenders are intended to fit on most road bikes. If you run anything larger than a 23mm tire forget about it. Also, you can pre-check for fit by sliding a 5mm allen wrench between your brake and tire. If it fits you should be good to go. From my experience, these are tough to fit on track bikes and anything with an Alpha Q fork. Once on, they do the job, but the moment you stand up to pedal the rear will sway side to side a lot. I am sticking with my SKS raceblades for now. Pros: Fenders for your race bike Cons: Fenders for your race bike that almost work and almost fit Would Buy Again: No Would Recommend: No Reviewed on: May 24, 2011 Reviewed by: Nick, Oregon Was this review Helpful?
