Hope Pro 2 Evo Rear Hub

Nice hub for the price. Thought about the King's, the I9's, DT's, but in the end, the cost, reliability, and bling factor of these drew me in. Not my first set. They built up nice, and are rolling well. The rear one (this one) has a little too much friction for my liking, but I'm sure if I took it apart and adjusted the bearing load a little I could fix it. I've had to do this to other hubs before. Not a huge deal, but i would prefer if they worked all that out at the factory first.

Pros: Looks, price, solid construction, good engagement.

Cons: Assembly needs adjustment for perfect operation. Freewheel isn't the smoothest.

Hope durable

i am on my second PROII now, and the new evo is better than the old PII right off the bat. The bearings are larger and the axle style is convertible with only a vise!
i put this hub through the wringer on a 6" freeride bike and an all-mountain HARDTAIL which both see big drops and jumps and have never missed a beat.
Hope is some quality stuff, my friends.

Pros: Finish
Color options
Axle convertibility
Durability
Loud, but not super-loud

Cons: Where is the straight-pull option offered now?

Lotsa bling, very loud in a good way. Points of engagement is decent but could be better.

Needs more clicks

I've been using the single speed hub for a while and was reasonably satisfied with it, so figured I would give the multi geared version a try. The 24 teeth ratchet as compared to the 48 teeth in the single speed hub concerned me a bit, but I had read good reviews so I figured why not give it a try. My mistake. This is the slowest engaging hub I have ever used in nearly 25 years of mtn biking. 15 degrees seperate clicks. If you are coasting or half pedaling through rough terrain, you may wind up in a blank spot between clicks and get caught out. 15 degrees means I may have to move my pedal 2 inches if I get caught between clicks. That can catch you off guard. Sure you may get used to it over time, but why? Spend the extra bucks on something like a King or a Hadley.

Pros: fabrication looks nice

Cons: 24 teeth ratchet. slow engagement. soft freehub body.

Great Hub

Built up a wheelset with these hubs and mavic t719 rims. The hubs look great and are smooth. They are a great balance of weight, quality, and price.

Pros: Look Great, Good balance of weight/quality/and price

Cons: The "click" it makes while coasting is quite loud
