While not as smooth or well machined as the old stuff, this freewheel doesn't have a reputation for blowing up like the IRD freewheels. Pros: dirt cheap
Cons: ugly

Solid freewheel, inexpensive and has the same spacing as the old 5 speed freewheels, so they make a perfect replacement- you just get one more rear speed and most likely a broader range than the old freewheel on your mid 70's bar-hopper bike! Really a no brainer for a replacement freewheel! Would Buy Again: Yes Reviewed on: August 23, 2012 Reviewed by: Garren E., Oregon Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Nice upgrade. I purchased one of these to replace an old non-hyperglide freewheel on a Raleigh 12 speed road bike. I used the 14-34 to also give me a lower gear than the original 14-28. I also replaced the chain and had to swap the rear derailleur. Once adjusted it shifts like butter. Pros: Super low gear. Cons: Also had the additional expense of new chain and replacement rear derailleur. But worth it.

I didn't know they still made these. It worked better than the ones from my youth. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: March 30, 2012 Reviewed by: Robert E., Oregon Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
