Hammer Perpetuem Solids

Great for marathon sustinence

Bought these because I like Perpetuem, but hate having anything but water (or HEED, occasionally) in my bottles. The mix reminds me of apricot nectar and just gunks up a bottle as well as your mouth while on a ride. I carry two vials of tablets along in my jersey pockets and pop 'em when the moment feels right. Squirt some water to wash it down and get back to business.

Pros: All the benefits of the liquid without the gunky sensation in your mouth.

Cons: Not many flavor choices.

Yum!

Well, maybe not yum, but they do keep you going. I've been using Hammer products for a few years now and like them. I generally use them on longer rides and brevets. They've certainly helped me stay bonk free.

Pros: They keep you going/fueled.

Cons: I guess I'm supposed to say something about the taste or consistency but they're just not that bad.

I've used Perpetuem in liquid form for years, but this is the first time I tried the solids. I prier the liquid better, but the form factor of the solids is great. They are super easy to carry and there is no risk of spoilage as you can get trying to keep the liquid ready for >3h.

No Cramps

I like having a great electrolyte replacement without having to give up clean water. I didn't cramp at all on the Bend Big Fat Tire Tour. Like all Hammer products, these don't upset my stomach.

Pros: Keeps away cramps while keeping a pure clean water source.

Cons: A little hard to chew down, but I force down more water, so it's all good.

Awesome way of having the right nutrition!

Easy to eat as long as you have water on hand, but that is a given.
Easy to carry along with the serving canister it comes with.
Much better way to ingest perpetuem as you can adjust your liquid intake to match conditions without altering your nutrition.


Pros: Easy to eat, easy to manage your nutrition
