When you only have one hand... Nice to be able to pick up the high-end shifters in only left or right. I am running a 1x10 setup with the Shadow rear derailleur and the XTR shifter seemed like the obvious choice. I love the multiple upshifts, which the SRAM XX shifter doesn't have. Also, the Shimano XTR shifter will shift 3 gears down in one push, while the SRAM XX would only do 2 gears at once.
The mounting bracket flexibility allowed me to get my controls setup exactly as I needed. Love it! Not a whole lot to say about it. It's light, it shifts well, and it looks good. It even comes with cable housing! I got this because I wanted the shadow+ derailleur.
The shadow+ der is awesome enough to tolerate this shifter. It works fine, but the bar ring clamp immediately annoyed me and instead of replacing the aluminum bit, you have to buy the whole top cover etc. Scam.
High end stuff that cost big bucks for exotic materials, new tech etc. is alright. high cost for forged al and a rather tacky nylon thermoplastic feels like I got suckered.
Pros: The shadow+ der is amazing. Cons: The bar clamp!
