Recent Convert I finally finished off a large bottle of wax lube and have gotten into using this product. I fully cleaned my chain, cassette, jokey wheels, chain rings of the wax lube build up a couple weeks ago when I switched lubes. Initial impression is that my drivetrain is running cleaner and is shifting smoother than with the wax lube. For the most part I do a mix of riding between paved path, graded path, and single track all of which are mostly dry and dusty. Pros: Less build up than wax-type lube previously used. Penetrates into chain very quickly. Cons: More frequent application, but less quantity used in each application. Dumonde Tech Lube My favorite lube. Been using for almost 10yrs now. Pros: Keeps a great running drivetrain and can run in varied conditions/temperatures is used properly Cons: A little thick for very dry dusty conditions Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: December 19, 2012 Reviewed by: jon g., Oregon Was this review Helpful? Tough as all get out to squeeze out of the bottle, but seems to do a good job Doesn't gunk up my chains and I rarely use even close to too much because this is hard, hard, hard to squeeze out of the bottle. I alternate using this and whatever Pro Gold product I have on hand. The both seem to work well. Pros: Keeps the chain running smoothly. Cons: You may need to squeeze on a tennis ball for a few weeks before you are able to get any of this out of the bottle. I've been running this lube for a few rides now. Everything seems to be running along nice and smooth.
Only ridden so far in dry, dusty conditions. Haven't need to lube the chain every ride like my last lube. Pros: Seems to do exactly what it's supposed to! Cons: None. Good dry dusty condition lube. Holds up well for something that can also be easily washed away when you need it to be. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: July 12, 2012 Reviewed by: Pat C., Washington Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Great Lube. Noticeably reduces chain noise and stays on even through mud and washings. A little goes a long ways. extends chain life. Pros: great product Cons: none Reviewed on: June 21, 2012 Reviewed by: Joseph H., Oregon Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Count me among the converted! You've heard this story countless times by now - time to hear it again! It goes as follows:
A number of trusted sources have preached to me about Dumonde Tech lube for years. I had trouble justifying the cost. But after growing increasingly dissatisfied with other products, I decided to go for it when the time came to replace the chain on one of my bikes.
It's really as good as they say! Just make sure you actually follow the instructions! I did and I couldn't be happier with the results: a smoother, quieter, longer-lasting drivetrain! These reasons alone justify the cost over other lubes. But since it only needs to be applied so sparingly, one bottle should last you a very long time, even across multiple bikes! Huzzah!
The Original Formula is a bit gunky for applications where you won't be dealing with foul weather or off-road conditions - but DT themselves warn you of that. Just be prepared to dilute or do some extra chain-wiping and you'll be juuuuust fine!

This lube is the best. One application will last several rides. It is a little more expensive per fl. oz., than other lubes, but actualy it is cheaper because you don't use as much per mile ridden. Pros: It keeps the chain smooth and nice and quiet for about 100 miles (MTB) in dry conditions. Cons: None. After moving to the PNW I found that my fave White Lightning lube didn't work all that well in the moist conditions here. I tried Pedros Syn, which attracted so much trail dirt it made cleaning my chain a real chore. Then, I switched to Rock'n'Roll, which didn't attract much dirt, but only lasted a couple of hours before needing another application. And what a pain to do that mid-ride! I had actually switched back to good-old Tri-flow, when a friend turned me on to Dumonde.
Dumonde is the best lube I've tried. It quiets the chain, lasts multiple rides, and doesn't attract crazy amounts of trail goo. I love it. It seems bike shops sell out of it frequently, so plan ahead if you notice you're getting low. Great for wet weather. I've used this and the lite version. This stuff works great in wet weather. The lite does not stick as long in the wet. Does not gum up the drive train and cleans off easy. I'm not sure I would use it in dry conditions. Pros: Works well in wet. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: January 16, 2012 Reviewed by: Brent D., Oregon Was this review Helpful? Smells wonderful! I've been using DumondeTech for over 10 years now. Yeah, I've used every other lube to, but I'm back using Dumonde because it lasts longer. Dry is great for dry, easy to apply without wasting. Wet is awesome for getting rained/mudded on. And both styles last longer than competitors. Not cheap, but it is cost-effective. Pros: Lasts
Smells great Cons: Not the cheapest, but probably is the most cost-effective option. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: November 15, 2011 Reviewed by: Erik K., Colorado Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Durable - my winter/wet lube I use this on my rain and commuter bikes. Will easily make it through 2-3 multi-hour rides in the wet. The lite version can't do that. It does attract dirt if the chain is not wiped down after lubing. I prefer to do the wipe down after one ride so that the lube has the chance to "flow" where it needs to. Pros: quiets drivetrain
very durable in the wet Cons: price Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: July 18, 2011 Reviewed by: Team EARTHDREAMS, Washington Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Makes my drivetrain ninja quiet This is some awesome lube! I've never had a drivetrain run as quiet as after applying this lube. It is necessary to completely clean/dry your whole drivetrain before applying (at least if you want it to work properly) but my oh my, this makes for one slick drivetrain. After 8 hours of riding on my initial application (mixed gravel road and singletrack) the drivetrain is still super quiet and it is noticeably cleaner than than any other lube I've used under similar riding conditions. This is good stuff! The best I've used in 25 years of serious cycling. Pros: Makes for one super quiet drivetrain!!! Best lube I've ever put on my bike. Cons: A bit pricey but a little bit goes a long ways. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: July 13, 2011 Reviewed by: Josh K. Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate

Dumonde Tech BCL-Original Lube This product performed as well as I thought it would. This lube has performed better than tri-flow. I have found this lube to last quite a bit longer than tri-flow too. My only complaint is that this lube is expensive. Lastly, if it was cheaper then I would rate it as a 5 star product. Pros: Works better than tri-flow, and it lasts a long time. Cons: Expensive. Have been using Dumonde Tech original for a few years and will not use anything else. Just follow the directions and it will work as advertised. Clean the chain well, apply lube, and wipe off excess. I usually clean and apply every 3rd trail ride. Pros: Best chain lube I have tried so far. Cons: Can be difficult to get. I tried this product at the recommendation of a shop friend. I was somewhat skeptical at first, but now that I've been using it for about a year, it is the only chain lube I will use. Nothing else I have used lasts as long (especially here in rainy Portland) or works as well. Think of it as a silencer for your chain. You'll know when it's time to re-lube. When you start to hear noise from the chain, wipe it down and reapply. If you stay away from detergents and solvents between applications, the product will form a plastic coating making future cleanings much easier as well as keeping your drivetrain quiet. Pros: Quiet chain during use.
Good durability.
Cons: Chain must be perfectly clean and dry before first application. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: September 01, 2010 Reviewed by: Aaron, Portland, OR Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Best chain lube on the market! I discovered this while riding out west over 3 years ago. The original is great for wet muddy conditions like I have here in the Northeast. I can do multi-hour endurance races (6-24hr) in rough conditions and never need to re-apply.
