Pearl Izumi X-Alp

Best shoes I have ever owned. I usually go through a pair of shoes ever year. Im hard on shoes. The X-Alp lasted me 3 seasons! I do super long hike a bikes and these are great. They are water resistant, but dry fast if submerged. The tread lasted better than any other riding shoe I have owned. Super comfy, too.

Pros: Bullet proof and water resistant. Toe gaurd is nice and stiff and protects the toes.

Cons: None.

After 7 years it was time to replace my old cleats. I decided on these because they have a soft rubber sole. Excellent for wet rocks, roots and trees on the occasional hike a bike sections. I am very pleased with the grip and how comfortable they are to wear. I suggest very warm booties in wet weather conditions as these breathe very well!

Pros: Light weight, good pedaling power.

Cons: None yet.

Tour Divide tested - great ultra long distance mt biking shoe.

I did most of my training for the 2745 mile Tour Divide Race in my Sidi shoes... and quickly realized I would need something more walkable for mud and snow; this was the shoe. It performed great from the desert floor to post holing through snow covered mountain passes. Comfortable, dried quick, - never any blisters. I wore this shoe everyday, all day, for a month... and they were none the worse for the wear... I am still riding in them.

Pros: Comfortable on the bike, walkable when things become unrideable. PearliZumi warranty is great.

Cons: Did not work with Time pedals (the rubber lugs won't support the weight and become compromised after a few 100 miles.)
Made in China... we used to make great shoes in this country....
