3T Arx Pro Stem

Nice stem. Good construction.

I bought this as an alternative to a Thomson X2. I wanted a nice road stem to raise the bars on my otherwise painful road bike. Using the 17d rise in the 110 length helped me do just that. This is a well made stem with quality build. I prefer the 4 bolt face plate of this model compared to the 2 bolt design of the Thomson X2. So far I'm very pleased with this purchase and am considering a pair of 3T handlebars to boot.

Pros: Appearance, craftsmanship, sturdy, price, different rise angles available

Looks cool. Light enough. Great on a CX bike. Strong.

Cons: not a lot of bling factor

3T stems are amazingly light and strong. If you want to save a little money and don't need a 17 degree version, get the Pro vs the Team. The key difference is that the Team uses Titanium bolts, hence a small weight savings.

Pros: Light, strong, reasonably priced.

Cons: No 17 degree option.

3T Arx Pro Stem

An excellent stem for the money. It may not be the lightest, but it is certainly the stiffest and most solid stem I have used. While stiffness is not generally a problem for oversized stems, I have used many oversized stems that failed because, in my opinion they were made too light. A stem is not the piece to count every gram and forsake durability. This stem is an excellent stem, it holds the bars extremely securely with no slipping at all and there is no danger that it will crush them or your steerer.

A side note, this stem may creak if you do not run it with the recommended spacer on top of the stem. Mine did. I put a spacer on top so that the entire steerer clamp had steerer tub in it, and it solved the problem. Most forks recommend 5mm of spacers on top of the stem anyway so this should be a non issue for most.

same as the team, except for bolts

This is a strong, rigid stem for a reasonable price. The team model has red paint and titanium bolts. You can add titanium bolts to this stem later if you are serious about counting grams.

Pros: strong, rigid, fairly light, looks good

Solid, light, good value

Not as beefy as they look in the pictures -- for some reason I expected these to look oversized on my bike, but actually they are very svelte.

Good and strong though -- no flex at all under my 220 lbs. on screaming downhills.

This stem squeezed my carbon bars a little more than I would have liked though. I have have two other stems on my bars, an Easton and a Thomson, and neither of them pinched my bars the way these do.

Pros: Strong, good looking, good value

Cons: Pinched my carbon bar in a way that an Easton and a Thomson stem did not.

Favorite stem!

I recently purchased my 3T cockpit and I have to say that upon my next build, 3T will be my next choice as well! I chose the lower model here only because I'm not a fan of carbon stems and it matched my LTD bars the best. I absolutely love the 3T cutout on the stem cap!

Pros: The way it attaches to the steerer tube, it has opposing bolts for a secure fit. Product was also as light as my FSA OS99 stem, but offered a more rigid feel!

Cons: Titanium fixing bolts please!

For the money, this is quite possibly the most beautifully crafted 150 g stem I have ever seen. the attention to detail from 3T is exceptional. The cutaway is gorgeous, the clamping area is wide and the logos are timeless. It is nice and stiff during climbing and sprinting while still absorbing some vibration on chip seal. Excellent value.

Simple stem with nice style. 3T really hit is big with their rebranding and sponsorship choices in the past couple years and hard to find any fault with machining or hardware at this price point. Plus the white racing strip looks great!
