Quoth the Raven - Nevermore! (or again) These tires have good grip, but both had huge sidewall tears within 7 weeks of riding. I'm 140 and very light on the trail. My last set of Specialized tires lasted 2 years. Unless you are sponsored by Stan's and can afford a new set every ride look elsewhere. I emailed Stan's and they told me that's too bad. Don't look for help with the company. Pros: Good Grip.
Universal direction. Cons: Might as well put toilet paper on your rims and seal them. That's how much wear you are going to get out of these pricey babies. I'm impressed with these tires. Awesome xc race tires, especially if it's dry and relatively hard packed. Crow on the back, raven on the front is nice. They are light and have supple casings so don't expect them to be bullet proof. Awesome If you use this tire how it is intended, it rocks. I run these tubeless with relatively low pressures and they are awesome. Used them in the 2011 Chequemagon Fat Tire 40 and they were awesome. Super fast on the pavement roll out and fire roads, plenty of bite for climbing.
Naturally there is a limitation with mud or very technical rock gardens Pros: light, fast rolling, running tubeless Cons: little concerned they are wearing quickly, but I have put a lot of miles on them Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: November 05, 2011 Reviewed by: Kent K., Jefferson, WI Was this review Helpful? Much better than you'd guess I thought this tire would be a hard pack, well consolidated race tire only. In short, I was wrong, for how small the traction blocks are, this thing rails in loose conditions, over slippery roots, etc. A large portion probably has to do with running it at 25psi, set up tubeless on stans, but this has stayed on for my rear race tire in all conditions save super mud. (even in mud though, it doesn't suck like you'd guess). It's a terrible front tire, except in the hardest of hard conditions, but it's never let me down in the rear. Probably close to 2000 miles on my first one, including 10-12 races, zero flats, zero crashes attributable to this tire. I hope production doesn't go anywhere. Pros: Light, good traction, fast, no flats!, does well in more conditions than you'd think. Cons: Price maybe? I can't even say that though - it's lasted so long. Great Tires Have been on a set for the season. Have held up well, but are wearing due to the short bit of pavement I ride to get to the trails. Fantastic grip on hardpack and loose dusty climbs as well. Very sketchy on fast decents, especially on the front. No seal issues at all and no burbing and I am a large 200 lbs. rider. Would def. buy again for the rear, but may look for something else up front. Pros: Fast fast fast, very good quality. Stick way more then you'd expect looking at them. Cons: Price. Avoid pavement as it causes fast wear. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: May 18, 2011 Reviewed by: Craig H., California Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
very light, not much competition for ust tires in 29er. these tires are fast. Pros: low weight, low rolling resistance, tubeless Cons: price, not good in deep sand.
