Good shifting, easy set up, but durability is questionable and requires adjustment more than Shimano XT has. The pivots seem to loosen up after time and then require more frequent adjustment to shift smoothly Pros: easy installation and initial adjustment Cons: durability Would Buy Again: No Would Recommend: No Reviewed on: April 26, 2013 Reviewed by: steve, Oregon Was this review Helpful? sram x9 rear. I have used this unit in both the mid and long cage version and am pleased with each. shifting is crisp and low effort. not as refined as the new shimano units but they take a beating. Pros: ease of setup , and consistent function. very tough. Cons: strong unit does not break away on impact . i bent my hangar. This is a great derailleur. Shifts are clean and crisp and it's pretty light. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: March 04, 2013 Reviewed by: Rob P., Oregon Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Sram x.9 Workhorse derailleur, keeps shifting smoothly. Short cage is perfect for 1x setups Pros: Quality and durability in tight package Cons: None Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: October 18, 2012 Reviewed by: John W., California Was this review Helpful? replaced the xt shimano I replaced my xt shimano with this derailleur and cannot figure out why shimano cannot build a better derailleur for the price. This one shifts great and was cheap. Pros: Great shifting, cheaper than shimano. dependable, and strong Cons: none Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: September 08, 2012 Reviewed by: ARIC S., Washington Was this review Helpful? Performance of the XO without the price tag. It shifts smooth and is a noticeable difference from the X9. If you don't care about a couple more grams this is a much better value than the X0. Pros: Durability, smooth shifting and performance. Cons: None Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: May 14, 2012 Reviewed by: Jason W., Washington Was this review Helpful? Great derailleur, poor cable nut positioning. Great RD that is just like years past except one glaring problem, the cable fastener bolt is in a very hard to reach place that makes installing and maintaining a pain. Pros: Great shifts, good price. Cons: Cable retaining bolt placement is awful. SRAM quality at reasonable price. Was using Shimano components for years until I purchased SRAM Force group for road bike. I've been "making the leap" for my mountain bike components. Pros: shifts great. Easy setup and installation. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: July 06, 2011 Reviewed by: Drew P., California Was this review Helpful? have used this and xo, and there is not much difference in shift quality, and only a few grams weight difference. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: April 11, 2011 Reviewed by: Laerzio C., Alberta Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Sram X.9 Shorty Great product. Crisp shifting (I run 1x9 and am still a GripShift holdout) Light. No need to step up and put out the extra dough for X0. Not that X7 is bad either... X7 is just very heavy when compared to the X9. Pros: Avail. in Short Cage. Light. Great shifting. Cons: Can't think of any. Quick shifting and durable. Why spend money on X0 when X9 is just as good? Pros: Quick, durable, short cage has great range Cons: None. I run a full X9 drive train and the shifts are always crisp, fast, and reliable with this derailleur. Seems to be very strong as it's been banged into rocks and hasn't given me trouble. Great Derailleur I had just snapped my 9.0sl in half (rock in the chain on a muddy ride), and wanted a medium cage derailleur. The X-0 was a bit too pricey for a replacement on an old bike. This worked perfect. Installation was very simple. It doesn't seem to shift quite as well as well as the 9.0sl did, but it's not much of a difference. Pros: Easy Install, great shifting, great price.
