I was blowing through Shimano BBs every 3-4 months so I decided to try something a bit better. I have been running this on a hardtail for a little over a year and it is still holding up just fine, bearings are still smooth.

It is nice that you can replace the bearings in this, but when you factor in the price of the service tool, it ends up costing about as much as a Chris King.

I don't know if this will outlast a King BB or not, but it sure beats the Shimano ones (XT) I had before it.

As another review noted, the one pictured is black, but the one I received is silver.

Pros: Decent mid-priced BB

Cons: Expensive service tool.

Economical replacement BB for an old Mntn Bike rebuild - it works fine, but I was frustrated with the lack of info on company websites about the right fit, width, spindle clearance, tolerances, etc.

I wouldn't use this for a higher end application unless you are willing to replace it regularly, but as an economical fix-it solution, it worked reasonably well. Did, however, need some persuasion to fit in the crank that it was supposed to work with. That had me puzzled.

My stars/recommendations are based on the frustration with RaceFace company website site info available prior to committing to an online purchase. If this is a simple re/re, and the fit is right, it should work fine.

Pros: Cost, moderately good BB.

Ok bottom bracket

I have run outboard bearings on a couple of my bikes for years. The truvativ have lasted forever, but this only lasted one year. Not very good quality.

Cons: This design did not last near as long as the truvativ ones. Although there was not excessive noise the bearings were done after not quite one year.

I got this to replace a shimano lx BB on my mountain bike. It spins smootherthan the shimano one ever did. I looks nice in silver as well. The shimano one only lasted about a year so I will see in a year or so how the longevity compares. The price was also competetive.

Pros: spins smooth

Works for one season before going bad, but the price is right so it's a good value.

Pros: Lasts for one good hard wet season. Less costs that many other brands.

Cons: The seals are getting better, but still not perfect.

Revolutionary!!!

This bottom bracket works with my Shimano XT cranks. Just install it and ride.

Pros: Compatible with my existing crankset.

Cons: Universal Cycles depicts a black model on the site but they shipped me a silver one instead.
