This is a great minimalist design! The narrow profile is great unless you wanted to put a trunk bag on it. My Ortlieb Front Rollers attach to it very securely, and I have had zero problems with it. Cons: the coating has rubbed off a bit where my bags attach to it, but I think this is pretty common with all racks. Sturdy rack and nice attachment method to seatstays. Good rack for the money. Pros: Strong. Black.
Fire and forget. Cons: Check compatability/clearance of the attachment arms with seatstays. On some bikes this rack won't fit. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: January 13, 2012 Reviewed by: Will H., Oregon Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Rear Rack that looks good This rack looks good on my Schwinn World DBX! It's light and it's very sturdy compared to lower cost racks. If I could upload an image after my install, I would just to prove my point. Money well spent for me. Pros: Reasonably priced, very sturdy and sexy looking. Cons: Will probably not work with most top rack bags due to its narrow profile. Great Simple Rack If your going to have a "universal mount" rack for light duty utility, this is your answer.
As bizarre as aerodynamic sounds when applied to racks, it holds some truth in this case. Nice and light and not too bulky, perfect for one or two small-medium size pannier bags for a light weekend away or every day too and from work.
The platform is not large enough for a trunk bag or. Pros: Lightweight, sturdy and simple Cons: Matte Black Powder coat or light silverish powder coat doesn't match anything.
Can't fit a trunk bag. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: February 22, 2011 Reviewed by: Jonathon M., Vancouver BC Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
I got this rack for my daily commuter. I got tired of using a backpack but didn't want a big heavy rear rack. This thing is great. Its light, narrow and not really bad looking for a rack. Its given me zero problems and the build quality is pretty good for the price. Honestly its probably the best you can get for the money. I have Tubus racks on my touring bike which cost over twice as much and this thing holds its own next to them. Pros: Light, narrow, fit well (on my bike that is) well made, has holes for permanent light mount. excellent properties The narrow top while not so good for a trunk, leans in the top of the panniers for a better center of gravity, I tour with a bedroll on on the upper deck and it works great.
The "rod style" upper brackets support are far stronger than the flimsy flat bar chrome mounts
that many others offer. This rack went with me from Sumas WA to Yosemite CA on the Cascade Sierra ACA route.
Loaded with a pair of Ortliebs and a bedroll on top. Not a bit of trouble. Pros: narrower profile for center of gravity.
Added support Bar for strength
Taillight mount
Superior strength upper mounts
Cons: Not well suited for trunk bags, narrow deck doesn't support & will flop around.
Bit finicky to mount around v-brakes on a 700c bike. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: January 01, 2011 Reviewed by: Steven J., Oregon Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Amazingly light and sturdy I wanted a solution for a "light" touring rig I have using an old Miyata 210 (1985?). This rack is narrower than most, which brings the bags closer inboard, mitigating wind resistance a little.
I like how the hooks from my bag can quickly engage the smooth tube "pocket". This is an improvement over racks with square notches in my opinion. Pros: Light, sturdy, priced right.
4 bolted points of contact to the frame provides a very sturdy setup. I'd confidently carry 100lbs on this if I ever had to. Cons: My older bike was tapped for 6mm threads, and this rack only included m5 bolts (like those from bottle cages). Not a big deal, as $0.92 at the hardware store resolved the problem.
