Easy to install. Unmatched performance and quality is amazing. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: March 14, 2012 Reviewed by: WILLIE L., California Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Perfect for your R1 or Rx build I bought both the 180 (F) and 160mm (R) for my Epic 29er build. These bolted up perfectly to my Hope Pro2 Evo's. I'm using the new 2012 Rx's and the rotors run straight right out of the box. I wish they had a rear frame 140mm to 160mm post mount kit. I had to buy the 160mm disc and will have to purchase the 160mm PM to 180PM front adapter (which takes a rear 140mm PM to a 160PM). I've used a few sets of ORO rotors with K18's and K24's. I look forward to the same performance from the R1 rotors. Pros: Runs straight out of the box. Can be pricey if you have to buy the rotor and adapter separately. Cons: They need to offer a rear PM 140mm to PM 160mm kit Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: February 11, 2012 Reviewed by: Chris M., Indiana Was this review Helpful? Perfect matches for Formula, with good machining Pretty simple decision if you have Formula brakes and want to put a different size rotor on. These work awesome, are interchangeable between front and rear (the adaptors are good for one size in front and another size in the rear, giving you some flexibility, but a single adaptor will not work with the same rotor in both front and rear). Pros: Strong, well made and good value Cons: none Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: August 08, 2011 Reviewed by: Biff, Virginia Was this review Helpful? Light and Powerful I switched from BB7s with some aftermarket rotors to RXs with these and the performance upgrade is awesome. These weigh as little as the lightweight aftermarket ones I had, yet don't get deformed like the lightweight ones did. That's a good product. Pros: Light and they stop well Cons: Not cheap Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: July 28, 2011 Reviewed by: Scott K., Pennsylvania Was this review Helpful? High quality machining and finish.
Using with The One FR on BlurLTc Pros: Light and good durability so far (about 40 rides) Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: July 21, 2011 Reviewed by: Bill J., Canada Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Formula R1 rotors are the only ones I'll use. Yes, you can get lighter rotors (Ashima comes to mind), and yes, you might be able to find some that are more durable (though these do not lack in durability), but there is no other rotor that is as light AND durable as these.
The 160mm rotor weighs ~80g. The 180 is under 100g. Pros: Stylish. Light. Good power & modulation Cons: Price Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: June 28, 2011 Reviewed by: eric b., Wyoming Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Light and long life Bonus with these is it comes with the required adapter for cheaper than the rotor alone. No brainer! Pros: Light
Durable Cons: None Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: May 16, 2011 Reviewed by: collin b., Washington Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
front good, back not so sure I bought a complete set of R1's and the front has been awesome, but the back is noisey. Not sure if it is the rotor or the shoes, may replace them on the rear. Pros: one finger braking rocks Cons: noisey?? Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: May 09, 2011 Reviewed by: Kent K., madison, wi Was this review Helpful? I've been using Ashima rotors on my bikes, but when I switched my brakes to the R1's I didn't want to chew out the organic pads prematurely. I switched to these rotors and they are practically the same weight at the Ashimas with better bite and modulation IMO. Pros: Light and durable
Cons: expensive. cheaper to buy the rotor and mount as a set than buying separately Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: March 24, 2011 Reviewed by: Reyhan F., Arizona Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
R1 rotors Formula R1 is an outstanding brake system. Paired with the R1 rotors and you have an amazing braking system at your figure tips.
excellent quality, super light weight and price is right for this amount of quality in a braking system by Formula. Pros: Red color option. weight and quality Cons: none Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: February 10, 2011 Reviewed by: Kyle R., Texas Was this review Helpful? Worked as advertised I love everything about these brakes including the rotors Pros: Easy install, light Cons: None Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: September 11, 2010 Reviewed by: Keith H., Massachusetts Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
These are light and cool, but...
They develop some play at the rivets. Formula say it is OK as long as they don't move more than 1/2 mm at the rivet. Mine don't, but it bugs me.
The 1-piece R1 rotor is only 6 grams heavier in the 6-inch model.
In 7-inch model the weight savings is more substantial. Would Buy Again: No Would Recommend: No Reviewed on: September 06, 2010 Reviewed by: DG, California Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
I got the adaptor for my brakes and all my adaptor needs were fulfilled. Buy this adaptor, it's the only adaptor you'll ever need. Until you need another one because this one doesn't adapt correctly. Pros: >black Cons: >doesn't taste like licorice -1 star Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: September 02, 2010 Reviewed by: danfinger, SFCA Was this review Helpful?
