Awesome, bomb proof front hub.
Easily convertible.
BLING! Pros: It's a King hub Cons: None Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: March 25, 2012 Reviewed by: Steve S., California Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Love this hub. I had the SD version for two year and loved it but need to move to a hub that could fit 20mm thru axle. Even with the 15mm axle this hub is stiffer the SD version. this is ck standard ISO Disc based system
(SD)for small diameter hub.
its 15mm and this allow you option to switch to a 20mm or 24mm thru axle fork but not to a 9mm. unlike other brands like hope, which allow you to switch from 9mm to 15mm to 20mm with just a change of the end cap.
take a while to run in the bearing, but once done, its smooth sailing. Cons: Preload setting must be done Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: December 19, 2011 Reviewed by: Jack k., International Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Excellent Hub This Hub is the gold standard. Looks great, lightweight, and solidly built. Easy to adjust and maintain. Instant bling factor when you show up for that group ride. The adjustment cone has a 3mm bolt on it. Its easy to crack the seat if you torque it too much. Really pay attention to the 2 Nm force needed to get the right tension. Otherwise it'll break. Other than that, excellent product Pros: Solid, well built, looks good, lightweight but burly Cons: The bolt housing on adjustment cone can break if tightened too much. Chris King ISO Disc 15mm Front Hub What can be said about Chris King products that you don’t already know? They are the most precise and aesthetically pleasing of all the hubs, headsets, and bottom brackets available on the market today. I have been riding on King hubs and headsets for more than a decade and have never had any problems save for the occasional rebuild and re-greasing. Pros: Smooth and unbeatable performance. Axles can be changed to either the 15mm, 20mm, or 24mm thru options. Cons: None. The new bearing adjustment is a big improvement over their old design that required a proprietary tool to really get it right. The anodizing also seems a lot better that a decade ago. The pricing is still steep despite their move away from the high labor prices of SoCal and the technology does appear to have changed over the last 10-15 years, but if it ain't broke don't fix it.
Always check bearing adjustment on new wheels. I don't think they watch this very closely out of the factory and wheel builders never check for changes after the spokes are tensioned. Every King hub I've had has issues with this and it's a quick way to ruin a hub. I've never had to readjust once I set it the first time though. Pros: Looks great, rolls smooth and fast Cons: Expensive, poor quality control on bearing tension out of the box Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: November 17, 2010 Reviewed by: Ian L., California Was this review Helpful?
