I haven't had any particular issues the few times I've used these, but I've grown to like the Topeak levers better. Pros: Good basic levers. Plastic-coated steel is a good concept. Cons: Not as bomber or ergonomic as Topeak. Reviewed on: April 13, 2013 Reviewed by: Brad M., Washington Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Haven't managed to break these yet. Steel core adds stiffness. Pros: Strong, lightweight and cheap Cons: none Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: October 09, 2012 Reviewed by: es, Oregon Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Pretty good levers Bought the steel core because I wanted something more durable than my other plastic ones which I have had break on me in the past...not fun with a flat at the half way point on a ride. Have been using these for some time now and haven't had any problems with them. Pros: Really strong, better than regular plastic Cons: Add a bit of weight if you are concerned about shaving grams Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: July 21, 2011 Reviewed by: Daniel A., California Was this review Helpful? Soma Steel core tire levers This is a very strong lever. Great for mounting DH tires. I have broken a lot of the plastic ones, but these work great. Pros: super strong Cons: don't snap together Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: July 17, 2011 Reviewed by: ARIC S., Washington Was this review Helpful? Haven't broke one yet. This is a nice lever. Very solid and robust, and I have confidence that it will not break when using it on those hard to mount tires you come across every now and again. Outside material protects rims from scuffing, and it feels very solid when handling. Nice size so that you can actually get leverage without hurting hands. Haven't broken one yet, and I can't say that for the last levers I had in the shop before purchasing these. Pros: well made, solid feel, won't break, size just right. Cons: none Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: February 18, 2011 Reviewed by: Mark K., Texas Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Broke It Broke the yip plastic and bent the metal om first use.Lucklu my rim is ok,but I was lucky. Product doesn't live up to promise. I will stick to the plastic ones because it is worse to damage the rim than have to replace cheap levers. The Topeak ones are stronger than these. The yellow & black dual Topeak one.The long black lever in that one is very strong.
What has been said about the hook being useful is true. I wish more levers had hooks. I'll use the remaining one for the hook, but not to pry under hard tension.
Technique is important, and I probably used bad technique when I broke the first one. But geting the right technique when trying to get a stiff tubeless off is not always easy to achieve. Pros: Only good for use as a holder piece with the hook on the spoke. Cons: Plastic part is too brittle, overall the lever is too small. I find these to only be helpful as my second lever, the prying end just doesn't seem to get in there as well as my cheapo blue ones from Park. Once you've got it in there and clipped to your spoke though it hold a lot better than the Park ones who's heads have a tendency to slip, mainly because after much use they bend, whereas these ones haven't bent yet. Pros: Super strong, stay in place well Cons: Prying end poorly designed Would Buy Again: No Would Recommend: No Reviewed on: October 10, 2010 Reviewed by: tyler b., seattle Was this review Helpful? Great levers. They feel great in your hand and are easy to use. They get the job done. Pros: Coating does nos scratch rims. They feel much stronger compared to plastic levers. Cons: Wished they would some how snap together (a-la- Pedro's levers), I always have a hard time looking for them in my bag. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: September 25, 2010 Reviewed by: Gerardo G., Texas Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Works well till the plastic wears off the metal then destroys your tube. Throw it away when the metal is exposed. Duh. Pros: good to carry along for those stiff sidewall DH tires Cons: Plastic wears off exposing sharp metal. These levers seem impossible to break! I had to get a Rubino off and another one on a white h plus son rim, and these made that process easier than any other tire lever i've used. And even after some struggling, they didn't mark up the white rim at all. The advertisement says 'the last tire levers you'll ever buy' and I'm going to have to agree with them. Pros: Strong, doesn't scuff rims Cons: none Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: September 01, 2010 Reviewed by: Jesse V., Maryland Was this review Helpful?
